Most Customised Board?
After spending lots of time customising my own board into a full site, I'd be interested in seeing what other people have come up with. Are there any other really customised/hacked boards that hardly resemble vB, but are based on the engine?
|
Well I wouldn't say mine doesn't resemble vB since most everything was written to look like and tie in with the forums, but my entire site is pretty much based around and reliant on vBulletin. If you take a look at the homepage, photography section, music, local talent, links, and etc, they are all custom scripts written around vBulletin. :D

damn! that is one nice photography section (and not just the pictures ;)) - is that a released hack?
|
it looks like its based on photopost - but iwould love to know how you have got it intergrated into the board like that - I have searched the photopost board and can't find anythng like it.....
|
Mine was heavily modified, but I had to remove it due to server load;)
I am yet again re-coding a new version, but not vB3 as it is still a beta... Satan |
Yes, that's PhotoPost. They don't allow us to remove the copyright from any of their programs, Tigga. (Sorry.)

You can also use a couple of thumbincluder scripts that let's you display photopost pics/links on other pages. We're using this to show latest uploads, random images, and most viewed on our home page. |

Do you think you will ever release that script?
|
Mine has about 150 hacks installed, style remade, it will al be lost with vB3 ...

yea have done the config-inc.php but am having problems with the header-inc.php part. when i tell it to include it then nothing happens - i just get a white page, if i do the header.htm then it picks up the icons etc... no worries i will will wait until you (if you do ) release it as a paid hack. |
No, Iggy.... I'm sorry, but we're confusing you by talking about different things.
1. I'm using the (commercial) PhotoPost program as the photo gallery at my site and what I said in my post above talks about setting the PhotoPost configuration scripts to work with vBulletin. The PhotoPost people have included vBulletin settings inside that file because they designed their gallery so it would interface with vB (and others I think). 2. When I saw Tigga's site, the photography section looks almost exactly like the PhotoPost gallery I'm using -- so much so that I could've sworn he was using PhotoPost. But Brian says his photo package is a vBulletin hack he wrote himself...... so, okay. They just look very much alike. That happens; my mistake. So now, since Tigga doesn't know if he'll release his hack or not and if he does, it probably won't be free...... you might as well check out PhotoPost. Those folks have the same kind of licensing choices and different packages, depending on what you want..... it integrates with vBulletin (and vbPortal) right away when you install it, and they have tons of extra features, solid development, upgrades, support forums... etc. etc.... just like vBulletin. (You're welcome to come look at my setup if you want. Just PM me.) So I guess..... if you want it right away and you can afford to buy PhotoPost, that would get you going real fast. Or, if you don't want to buy that, wait and see if Tigga will release his hack and find out how much money he wants for it. |
Photopost is very good - I use it myself.
