Erwin 03-31-2003 08:22 PM

Time to fire up the ol' Araxis Merge...

Xenon 03-31-2003 08:25 PM

hehe, hmm, i think tomorrow.....

to tired for today :)

filburt1 03-31-2003 08:42 PM

I just upgraded WDF to 2.3.0 and installed more than half of my hacks except HelperBot because most people ignored him. Poor guy. :(

No difficulties, mainly because WDF wasn't hacked at all on vB 2.3.0 RC3, and it seems to be running fine now as well.

Link14716 03-31-2003 09:03 PM

Poor HelperBot... :(

filburt1 03-31-2003 09:29 PM

People have bought him though so I guess that they like having him at their boards :)

Boofo 04-01-2003 12:35 AM

What is this file? I never noticed it before in any listings about the upgrade.

regimage.php

It was added with 2.3.0 RC2.

Boofo 04-01-2003 02:26 AM

Thanks, guys. ;)

Now would anyone know what I need to add and where to get this working without having to do an upgrade from 2.2.9. I have wayyy too many hacks installed to go that route right now.

Tony G 04-01-2003 08:52 AM

Woohoo, finally. :)

Erwin 04-01-2003 10:21 AM

Done. Upgraded my forums from RC3 in 10 minutes - only 5 files changed after all. :)

TECK's microhack was the hardest to port over - the code in vB2.3.0 final had changed the dovars bits in functins.php - finally made it so that it worked with the new code...

PurpleCow 04-01-2003 10:26 AM

Any known bugs untill now in the stable release ???

Thanks much

sabret00the 04-01-2003 03:50 PM

nice, i'll most probably give this an install later

Dean C 04-01-2003 05:13 PM

Interesting... i found out on msn last night :p

Reverend 04-01-2003 05:21 PM

I'm currently running RC3 with several hacks installed.
Will the upgrade work if i just upload the "changed" files and run the upgrade23.php script.Or do i still have to upload all the 2.3.0 final files then run the script?

filburt1 04-01-2003 05:54 PM

Obviously the second one because it's just another upgrade...

Obvious to you,maybe.

Geez Filburt wot's your problem? Having read some of your replies on this board to others' questions, you seem incapable of giving a courteous reply.

For your information the "first" upgrade option was all i needed to do. Thanks to Cary at vbulletin.com for the answer.

"Just upload the "changed" files and run the upgrade23.php script"

filburt1 04-01-2003 06:22 PM

I didn't mean to sound rude, it's just the concept that all of vB is powered by the PHP files, so it wouldn't be possible to upgrade vB any other way except for overwriting vB: the PHP files.

Ok.
I was just making sure that i could upgrade successfully from RC3 to Final by only uploading the files that were changed, rather than having to run a "beyond compare" on all the files.

Upgrade only took about 2 mins. ;)

Erwin 04-01-2003 09:03 PM

2 minutes - you beat me! :) I thought you hacked your board - surely you had to compare your functions.php at some stage...

Yep,but the admin/functions.php was the only file i had to compare out of the 6 newer files.None of the other 5 have got any of my hacks installed.
So i copied over the code,only 1 or 2 lines,to the new functions.php,and uploaded 7 files,(regimage.php, online.php, global.php
admin/functions.php,admin/user.php, admin/vbulletin.style ,admin/upgrade23.php),then ran the upgrade script.

Job done. ;) :)

N9ne 04-02-2003 11:45 AM

If you want to set a record for fastest upgrade, there's a way...;)

Make it so the 'Version Info' options group is displayed on options.php, and set your version number to the new version, done :p

Although that means a lot of things just won't be right, but all you lot are crazy about setting upgrading records :p

hmm functions.php took me about an hour or even more, here on vb.org from 228 to 230 ;)

Dean C 04-02-2003 02:57 PM

Erwin did you post the fix in the microstats thread ;)?

Xenon 04-02-2003 03:00 PM

there was a fix? ^^

the stats hack works perfectly here *ggg* ;)

Dean C 04-02-2003 04:44 PM

Erwin said he had problems with microstats in upgrading from RC3 :) (on his own board)

No, I haven't. I thought TECK should do it as my fix may not be correct (though it seems to be working fine).

Dean C 04-03-2003 07:36 AM

Ok np :)

i know, it was just a joke ;)
on vb.org we don't use Florens hack, we use our own :)

sabret00the 04-03-2003 04:33 PM

i dunno if i should lose my cherry to araxis merge or if i should completely rehack my board to get rid of any mistakes i may have made previously

Dean C 04-03-2003 04:48 PM

Lose your cherry definately :D!

It's useful for comparing any documents you change :)!

FleaBag 04-03-2003 06:50 PM

I upgraded, as I always do... Only 57 hacks to put back in though, not as many as some people have to do!

Erwin 04-06-2003 04:50 AM

I found the first confirmed bug in 2.3.0 final released - this causes email subjects to be blanked if you have custom email templates with templatesetid's mismatching.

The fix is in the thread below, courtesy of LoveShack.
