It is a terrible shame what has happened. For the seven astronauts, their families and friends, and for those in Texas who may be affected directly by the debris. :( Humans, as a general whole, should not take for granted that flying itself is pretty neat for us - but to go into and back from space is downright mind boggling. We should not taken anything for granted.

Everyone is talking about this absolutely everywhere....

;) It's not something that happens everyday.

Indeed, worst of all the Iraqi's have allegedly put in their two cents about this too.

filburt1 02-02-2003 03:00 AM

Hint: not every person in one nation has the same opinion about everything. I bet CNN broke the news, the propgangandic bastards...

Tony G 02-02-2003 03:05 AM

Yes seems like it from what I saw at the news flash.

At least there's someone here who realises the significance of this loss and doesn't instantly accuse people of who was to blame.

God bless these people

It's fate....
Can't do anything against.

But i don't know what's so horrible about it.
Seven Astronauts died. Wow, very important. Every day there die much more humans and nobody cares....

Why are these astronauts more important than african childs???

Sorry to sound so harsh, but that's what i think...
There die so much people every day and nearly nobody cares, but when some die while it's on TV it's important....
Where goes the world...

assassingod 02-02-2003 11:18 AM

I understand where you are coming from Xenon - but I think that the ship exploding AFTER its mission makes it slightly more worse, since they had a good take off and good time in space, and when they are ready to come back, they explode:(

Tony;
Lol;)

Xenon 02-02-2003 12:27 PM

hmm i think that make it less worse.
They had the nice time, and you know you should end when it's on the top.
Nevertheless i think it's a nice death which i want to have myself.
Dying in an explosion, and you won't feel bad.
Dying in a bed and feel every secound of your death is much more worse...

Or die because of famine, that's really cruel...

But all in all it's the most normal thing in life.
Everybody will die sometime in future, that's life, that's why you should enjoy living and not fear the death.

It's just that i don't understand why everyone is so shocked about that 7 astronauts. Of course they had families and it's hard for these.
But most of us have no relationship to thes seven's so why should we care more about them as we care about those poor african one's?
the answer is just because we know about them from TV.
That's what annoys me...

The reason this is such a big thing is because of the fact that it doesn't happen very often. This must have been a horrible way to die. By the looks of things i saw on the TV the shuttle blew up somewhere and this seperated it into bits. I saw a body in a bodybag too so by the looks of it these people FELL to their deaths. Can you imagine how horrific that must have been?

DrkFusion 02-02-2003 03:25 PM

Very Sad thing, my heart goes out to all, this is just similar to 9/11, they don't happen regularly, and sometimes can't even be stopped.

In response to african children and such, many of us help, donate our time and money to them, in hope that in the future we can fix this problem, many do care about them.

But this, no one expected this, they didn't look forward to dieing, they looked forward to being with their families. Its really tragic, and hopefully it will never happen.

Ok this is starting to annoy me now. This is not a thread to joke around in. It's a thread to talk about this tragedy. Please don't post stupid comments like that.

assassingod 02-02-2003 05:06 PM

I'm just tryin to lighten the mood

Logik 02-02-2003 05:37 PM

Hmm. Well. that really dont lighten the mood. And Xenon is right. But then again everyone else is too. Because this was unexpected. Them african kids basicaly know they're going to die.

Dean C 02-02-2003 05:42 PM

The situation in Africa isn't that bad but it is a very widespread problem. The problem in my eyes is not starvation. But more so disesase. If clean water can provided to everyone (which is an ambitious idea) then at least that will eradicate some deadly disesases. Food is a problem. I mean the developed world overproduces food. I've seen pictures of butter-mountains etc and yet we can't provide food to the devloping world. It's ridiculous.

Xenon 02-02-2003 07:23 PM

it was just an example.
People die so often everywhere on the world, but none of them are in TV and so just nobody cares, but when it's in TV you have to claim you're also feeling bad..

I ask why? All of them knew that they have a dangerous job, they knew they could die on such a trip easily, but the went there.
That's it.

It's a shame, that you have to feel with someone just because he's in TV, but not to feel with someone who "just" died somewhere far away from you what you don't know.

Oh, and mist. Have you ever been in Arfica and seen those kids?
Or have you seen people in our countries who died on diseases?
The died cruely, to die immediately in an explosion is really a good death and if the others could decide they would choose the explosion.
