Captcha
I just received an update from a Vendor on my forum. Apparently when trying to post they are being redirected to a Captcha log-in, having to enter the code before they can post.
anybody have nay ideas of where I should be looking to sort this out? Not sure if this is an isolated problem or a usergroup issue? note: Vendors are set up as a separate usergroup on the forum (similar privileges as Premium members) |
What is set for that group under ACP --> Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager, Require Human Verification on Configured Actions

selecting Usergroup Manager brings up a screen showing the various usergroups Attachment 148028 |
OK then click on Go for the group in question.

Attachment 148029 Ah ha! Found it! that setting is incorrect :o thanks for help. I'm newbish at this and learning on the fly since my forums' "IT guru" walked away  |
Now find the setting, Require Human Verification on Configured Actions

ever since we got hacked into back in Nov I've been coming across a setting here and there that has been altered what a PITA it has been :o |
That sucks, but at least it's sorted now. :)

Out of sheer luck we found a hacker logged in as Admin and altering settings attempting to lock us out of our own forum. Fortunately they were stopped, immediately banned and deleted. But there was a lot of user, group and forum setting altered. It's been tedious to go through each and every one to make them right and every now and then a member stumbles upon one ... drama ensues  Thanks again for the help, much appreciated :) |
Not a problem, glad to help. :)

Check admin logs to see what has been changed. As you have deleted him it will be a blank name beside what has been changed.
|
That's a very general idea, it will say something like this:
Code:
13691 Ozzy47 21:09, 30th Jan 2014 options.php options 00.000.000.000 |
at the time it happened I literally went though permission by permission in an attempt to correct the damage.
Obviously, some altered settings got missed but the membership has been extremely understanding of the situation (we made a general announcement that the forum was hacked and having difficulties before anyone knew what was going on). This particular issue was a little more serious as it affected our Vendors - industry affiliates we hope to grow with. So having them turned off would not be a good thing for us. Again, the help is appreciated |
Well hopefully the vendors will understand too, this sort of thing can happen to any site.
