What is Forum Runner?

Forum Runner is a vBulletin mod that allows your users to browse your forum using a native Android/iPhone/iPad client. This means faster access for those users since it only downloads the actual forum information rather than all the extraneous images that slow down the mobile connection.

Forum Runner now supports the iPad natively! Download the Forum Runner app once and support both iPhone and iPad versions in one universal app!

iOS 4 multitasking on the iPhone is fully supported by Forum Runner.

Forum Runner is FREE for forum owners to install, and takes less than 5 minutes. The client for the iPhone/iPad/Android costs 1.99$ which is LESS THAN THE COMPETITORS, and has more features. Please see the list below for full information on Forum Runner's features.

Forum Runner inherits all the security built into vBulletin, so users running Forum Runner will only be able to see the same forums and threads as they could using a regular browser.

Forum Runner currently supports vBulletin 3.6.x, 3.7.x, 3.8.x and 4.0.x. We are adding support for other mobile phones as well as forum software.

How do I get the Forum Runner vBulletin Add-On?

You can download the latest version from vBulletin.org below. However if you download this version, you still need to register your forum on our directory list so it shows up in the iPhone/Android client. Please note that if you download the addon from vBulletin.org, you will need to download the unique sitekey.php file from http://www.forumrunner.com after you register your forum.

To register your forum, simply head over to http://www.forumrunner.com/?p=register. Full instructions to register your forum in the Forum Runner database are there. Once you register your forum, you can download the sitekey there. Simply place this file in the "forumrunner" directory that is created when you unarchive the add-on.

Hmm. Without boring you with the grueling details, when you register your forum on the website and download the package, there is a unique key generated per forum (for Push notification) that is included in the bundle.

So that presents a problem about posting a "one download" for all tarball.

Is this against vBulletin.org ToS or anything?

Yes, Im afraid it is.

This is a great tool and will increase usage on my site. Do you plan on extending this to Photopost galleries or the VbGallery? I would love for my users to upload photos from an iphone.

Any chance to extending support for Android devices?

When using the I-Phone client after I enabled my site, I notice I can see photos that I posted in the forums, but I only see the attachment numbers for the photos (no image) others have posted.
Is that a bug, or something I need to correct on my site?

Yup. That is currently in development as well!

Which forum is yours? I can take a look and see what the issue is.

I fully expect a few kinks that need to be ironed out since everyone's forums are configured differently!

It looks like there was an issue with SEO urls and the forum tab. If you see this on your forum, grab the latest version and it should be fixed.

OK. I'll put together a version that can be uploaded here as an attachment. It will probably take a few days.

Uploaded a vBulletin.org version. You still will need to download the unique sitekey during registration and put it in the "forumrunner" subdirectory.

Darwin's law has kicked in. What an amazing time to have a hard drive fail in the main server.

It is being rebuilt right now, but it will be off of a backup from 3:00AM this morning. If you registered your forum after then, you will need to reregister when it comes back up. I'll post up in here when the server is back online (should be 20 minutes or so).

Hi I have done all the above but get this erro

Just installed it, and honestly, I'm really impressed. Forums load super-fast - much faster than with That Other App. Also - my attachments show up! :)

One thing you guys really gotta do is make a favorites tab though, so I can save forums I go to regularly. Having to search for my forum everytime I open up the app is a bit of a pain. Other than that tho, I am really, really liking this.

Already have this! Unfortunately it's kind if buried in the user interface. The next update makes it more obvious how to add favorites.

To add a favorite:

Log into your forum, select the "Profile" tab (you miht have to select "More" tab then "Profile". Touch the heart in the upper right corner. Once it is highlighted it will show up on the home page, and also be polled for push notifications!

Try grabbing the file again and doing a fresh reinstall (In product manager, "Uninstall" Forum Runner" and then install the new product-forumrunner.xml file.

Should be OK now.

Oh and if you guys and gals like the app, please mark as Installed and leave a positive review in the app store. It helps out. :-)

why is every thing so similar?

push and search is good.

Installed, Verified and published but i still keep getting permission denied when i click on my forum in forumrunner app in current, when i click forums its ok though..

I also keep getting a parse error message that says i could be using an out of date plugin, which is strange as i only downloaded it last night from your site..

FYI If you are seeing the "Permission denied" under "Current" tab, that is probably caused by you not allowing unregistered users to "search" on your forum. If that is the case, you need to log in to see the current threads.

Pick up the latest version and install it - the ATTACH tag has been fixed. Let me know if it works out for you.

I believe I misinterpreted the problem. What seems to be happening is that images that were added as "inline" are not showing up, but images that were attached are. when using Formrunner

Also, anyone who is using VBSEO should pick up the latest version of the add-on - it fixes a couple issues with VBSEO conflicting with Forum Runner!
