Printer Drivers - Win7 Problem
 

A bit of a long shot but here goes :

I have the samsung CLX-2160 MFP and the drivers will not install on Windows 7.
I have been to the samsung site and grabbed the various drivers (there is no win7 specific drivers so i grabbed the 64 bit versions) but none work.

I am on the 64 bit version of Win7.

Does anyone know how to get my printer to work or will i have to downgrade back to XP ???

I think you may need to install the driver manually as oppose to letting windows do it, Have you tried manually ??

You can also, from Windows 7, Just right-click on the setup file and click on "Properties." Then select the "compatibility" tab. Select the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose Vista. Click "OK."

Now, right-click on the file and select "Run as administrator."

It should run fine!!! Hopefully ;)

tried everything - it actually installs the driver but wont let me print.

Did you change the compatability tab for vista???

yes changed everything i could think of.
I noticed some of the apps that install with the print driver dont install on win7
Maybe this is part of the problem

right click on setup file .. compat .. change to win xp or vista and then try reinstalling .. i had same problem while installing softwares on win7.. that should solve the porblem ...

done all that m8 - i just think its not compatible with win 7 (64 bit version)

Try the 32-bit version and make sure you have the Vista drivers set.

just tried that - then it says the version not supported and ends

I was able to install their universal print driver on Windows 7 without problems. Can't test it though because I wouldn't even know where to get a Samsung printer at. I have never seen them for sale at any store locally.

cheers luke its printing now but even had a bit of trouble setting it up.
Gave errors on install and everything i print (inc pictures) come out in black and white.
They are color on the screen but when the print prompt box comes up they are auto turned into black and white.

No solution as yet

EDIT - must be because smart panel never installed - as it says cannot find it during the install

EDIT - finally its printing in color and seems to be working well - only downside is i have no smartpanel on desktop as it wont install so i cant see how much ink is left etc.Also when installing smart panel on its own from samsung site it throws up another error such as SSmgr.exe not found

Have you got in touch with Samsung and asked about a driver update??

nope because tbh i cant be the only person with a samsung and have installed WIN7

I even checked google and others are having same problem

I was lucky with wayne pointing out the universal driver as i never spotted that one from the long list :)

I am sure they will update their universal driver before October 22nd.

I'm loving this beast..I installed it on my netbook (Acer Aspire 1 gig ram and 160 gig of HD) and so far so good..and i didn't have to installed any drivers...
