Fluid Header?

Is there a way to make my header Logo image fliud so it resizes when a window resizes like my forum does?

SEOvB 09-26-2007 06:29 AM

Yes.

You'll need atleast two images, your logo being one, then a image that repeats itself being the other that spans the rest of the page.

Unless of course you just want your logo repeating itself.

LCN2007 09-26-2007 02:29 PM

could you explain more?

LCN2007 09-26-2007 02:33 PM

Use like 3 or 4 pixels at the end of the image so you can expand it.

LCN2007 09-26-2007 04:50 PM

G0F0RBR0KE 09-27-2007 07:14 AM

That's a good one rite there.

And what I meant was, at the end of your header. You could of cut a 3 or 4 pixels, so it will look like this.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

use that link to understand how it's slice and how it's coded.

LCN2007 09-27-2007 05:12 PM

Thank you everyone for your help greatly appreciated
just one last question is it better to to use the table code or the css described in that thread?
Could you guys tell me the advantage or disavantages to each?

Ohiosweetheart 09-27-2007 08:18 PM

Personally I like using the tables. Not sure why, so I don't have a reason for you, just a personal preference, I guess.

LCN2007 09-27-2007 09:55 PM

fair enough, so there is no benefit or disadvantage to either one i gather?

Dismounted 09-28-2007 05:04 AM

CSS is the way forward.

MRGTB 09-28-2007 08:36 AM

yes it can be done, I did it using two images, one aligned to the left, the other aligned to the right. So the right side image comes in with the forum when it is resized. I just used the same background colour for the images that vbulletin has as default as its froum background colour. There is a way to use a 3rd image for the center that should be 1 pixel wide and the same hight as the other two images if you want a different background colour etc.

LCN2007 09-28-2007 02:43 PM

if i just use 1 image will it resize smaller if the window is shrunk?

Dismounted 09-29-2007 05:40 AM

Yes.

If you mean one image that fits the full width. No

Freesteyelz 10-02-2007 06:07 AM

Please post your header code.

LCN2007 10-02-2007 12:30 PM

Thank you. here it is.

<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<div style="width: $stylevar[outertablewidth]px; margin: 0 auto;">
<div class="topnav">
<div style="float: left; padding: 7px;"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" /></a></div>

<div style="float: right; padding: 7px;">{banner1}</div>

<!-- /logo -->
</div>
</div>

<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open

$_phpinclude_output

Freesteyelz 10-03-2007 01:44 AM

What happens when you remove this code below?

Code:

<div style="float: right; padding: 7px;">{banner1}</div>

LCN2007 10-03-2007 02:42 AM

Nothing thats just a variable code its code that i just havnt deleted yet.
I used to use it for a banner advertisment but i changed my mind and remove the advertisement in that spot. i just havnt done the code clean up yet.

Freesteyelz 10-03-2007 05:05 AM

Then remove "float:left". If you use it then use "clear:both". In your case, however, that piece of code is not necessary.

LCN2007 10-03-2007 05:56 AM

I think i got it. Hows this code look i used 1 picture with the repeating back round.

<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<center>
<table border="0" width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center" style="background-image:url($stylevar[imgdir_misc]/headbg.jpg)">
<tr>

<td align="left" valign="top"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/local-cobalt-header.jpg" border="0" alt=""/></a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</center>

<!-- /logo -->
<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open

$_phpinclude_output

Freesteyelz 10-03-2007 06:22 AM

If the code works for you then that's the main thing. I'll check back tomorrow to see your screenshot. :)
