What would your site be?
If you were to pick something else then vBulletin
Just .php? Invision? phpbb? or something custom...

But erm well i have invision, phpbb has no mods and seems abit crap...

If vBulletin wasn't around then who's to say Invision or phpBB would exist? I always wanted to try FusionBB but I can't find an admin demo nor an illegal copy.

I like MyBB, I actually set it up the other week just to see how it was. Not nearly as nice as vB, but for free, I wouldn't complain, just put up the extra money for vB:)

Probably IPB. I like the idea of paying for updates and support because that way you know you'll get them for sure :)

Considering vBulletin debuted in 2000, I believe that phpBB (2001) and IPB (2002) wouldn't have existed if vB never did. That said, I'd probably be using something like WWWBoard of UBB.threads.

This is incorrect. phpBB has plenty of mods: link.

However, to answer the question. I'd probably be using FuseTalk. Expensive, sure -- but nice. :)

Probably MyBB; it's free, which is a big plus, and some aspects of it I actually like better than vBulletin, such as the much sleeker look and feel of the AJAX features. Same for Invision Power Board, although I can't help not feeling overly inclined to trust a company that has in just a few years raised its license prices from free to $150 for six months' support and upgrades. :/
