Linux distro of choice?

Mine has been Slackware since I originally started playing with linux in 98. But I just recently installed Fedora Core 5 on my old Inspiron 8100 and i'm very impressed :)

I tried Ubuntu and quickly went searching for another alternative.

Vector Linux.. If you have an ancient piece of machinery, it'll run like a champ. :)

I also use Smoothwall for my firewall.

Never played with it - just checked it out - looks like it's based off of Slack :)

Hello everyone. Newbie here, hehe.

I thought Ubuntu was great. But maybe it's still in its baby stage. So I'll give it a chance later.

I think CentOS is good. :)

You're not alone. ;)

Yea linux for a desktop is all new to me. I've been using it since ~97 and never used it as a desktop replacement. I'm liking it though :) A lot of learning in X - I find myself opening up xterm to do everything because I don't want to figure out how to do it in X.

I'm currently using Ubuntu Linux 6.10, although I have live CDs of openSUSE 10.2, Mandriva Linux 2007 and Fedora Core 6 that I'm going to be trying out.

Edit: And none of those Live CDs worked for me, so I guess I'll be sticking with Ubuntu for the long haul.

Ahh, Good Ol' Red Hat :).

I'm using xUbuntu right now on an old laptop of mine. It takes virtually nothing to run it, and it seems to be a pretty stable distro (I've used Redhat, Fedora, Mandrake, and Slackware in the past, but xUbuntu is definitely my distro of choice right now.)
