Side column on forumhome only

As Requested here

There are two versions of this mod.

Version One has the side column only down the side of the forum listings.

Version Two has the side column down the side of the forum listings and the whats going on box.

In both instances the instructions are practically the same, apart from the second template edit.

To prevent confusion, I have created two installation files according to which version you require.

To modify the side column, edit the template 'sidecolumn'. The info that is in there is simply a template for you to use. You do not need to use <table> tags in the template as they are included in the forumhome edits.

If you are unsure which version you require, take a look at the attached screenshots and see which one you prefer.

The file names are the version numbers.

Support is limited, and as such will only be provided to those who have clicked install as and when I am able to do so.

wizardan 04-11-2006 11:02 AM

Error message during the import of the product on my test board.

Same problem here. Any idea?

peterska2 04-11-2006 09:16 PM

Are you installing this as a plugin? It is a product xml. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this on my test boards and have not experienced any problems.

Try downloading a fresh zip and trying again, and if it still doesn't work, then let me know.

You need to edit the template 'sidecolumn'

tanyeri24 04-11-2006 09:24 PM

installed.

didn't find: <thead>
<if condition="$show['guest']">
<!-- guest welcome message -->

Maybe because I edited forumhome template more than once, please say detailed where the lines are. thanks.

peterska2 04-11-2006 09:28 PM

These lines are practically right at the top of your forumhome template, directly after the first table tag.

CAMS 05-01-2006 10:54 PM

Rated 05-01-2006 10:54 PM

They should do. There is no reason why the normal $stylevar won't work

Note: Support is only provided at www.peterska2.co.uk

Rated 05-01-2006 11:00 PM

<a href="#YOURADDHERE"><img src="http://www.livicruise.co.uk/vb/livicruise_Orange/extraimages/addtower.gif" alt="Your add Here?" width="120" height="240" border="0"></a>

any ideas why that wont show tho? :S

peterska2 05-01-2006 11:07 PM

@ Rated: it should work fine on all widths.

@ CAMS: that code is correct, so should be showing.

I have just specified a width of 800px on my test site with this installed and the resulting site is attached in the image.

If you are not getting this, then it is due to modifications to your forumhome template and without a copy of your template to debug, I cannot help further.

peterska2 05-02-2006 01:25 AM

Replied, the problem lies with your google ads. They will need to be a narrower format to stop breaking your width.

Rated 05-02-2006 01:27 AM

Amazing dude, that was fast! - Im suprised it was the ads because i thought they were lower down then the site panel :)

One question tottaly of topic - Do you know how to seperate each catogary and forums, from another catogary and forums, like here on vb.org?

thanks again!

Rated 05-02-2006 01:31 AM

I just tryed your fix, and nothing changed ( i completly removed all the add code aswell )

This mod for 3.0.x should work on 3.5.x as the templates it asks for haven;t changed that much

Works great on my forum!:banana:
Couldnt find
Code:

<thead>
        <if condition="$show['guest']">
        <!-- guest welcome message -->

So i put the first edit in after
Code:

<!-- main -->
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">

And seems to work fine, lets my shoutbox stay full width too...;)

Qwest 05-09-2006 04:21 PM
