ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo Online Status
ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo Online Status
Looking for the vBulletin 3.6.x version? Developer: adb22791 - originally written for 3.0.x by BeerMonster Current Version: 1.0.6 vBulletin Version: Tested and Working on 3.5.7 Edits: 2 Template Edits (3 if you use both postbit and postbit_legacy) Please note: This modification only works on vBulletin versions 3.5.3 and later. This modification has not been tested on vBulletin 3.6.x yet. What it does: This modification displays your AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo Online Status in the postbit_legacy or postbit templates, as well as the member info page, using an icon. Uploading the modification will add a new setting category called IM Online Status, where you can choose the server you use to display a users IM Online Status. Server lists, etc, can be found at OnlineStatus.org. There is also an option built in to turn this mod off and display regular IM Online Status Icons, should you have problems. To Install: Download the .zip file attached here, and upload the product via the plugin manager in your admin CP. Then open Install.txt in the zip file and follow the instructions for template edits. To Upgrade: If you are running version 1.0.5, follow the instructions in 1.0.6's Upgrade.txt. If you are running later than version 1.0.5, please upgrade to 1.0.5 and then 1.0.6. Current Bugs: (all current bugs fixed in 1.0.6) -None Reported Support Please ask for support in this thread only. I will try my best to answer whatever question you have, or to fix whatever problem you are solving. Please also make sure that an issue you are having has not already been reported. Changelog (Please note this is a limited changelog, the full changelog is included in the zip file). Version 1.0.6 (5th January 2007) Updated product to work with vBulletin 3.5.7Version 1.0.5 (16th June 2006) Incorrect template variables fixed ("$post[username]" and "$userinfo[username]") A few notes about custom icons... I have found through testing that using custom icons on your web server can make the online status icons load a lot faster. I suggest you download the icons from whichever online status server you use, and upload them to your forum directory (I put mine in images/icons). This is not necessary, just a little tip. Please Please Please remember that even tough this hack is stable, things can still go wrong. I cannot and will not be held responsible for anything this hack may do to your forum or theme. As always, I recommend that you backup your database before applying this hack. Also please note that I reserve the right to remove this mod at any time. If you use this mod please click Install. Thanks, adb22791 |
Old Versions
Since the latest Online Status Icon hack doesn't work on 3.5.0 or 3.5.1, I have decided to re-release the older version as-is. This version has no support and I strongly reccomend you upgrade to vBulletin 3.5.3 or later. |
Looks cool, is there a way to use our own images?
|
waiting for this and it's great **INSTALLED**
|
Looks nice. I'll take a look at it :)

Code:
$vboptions[imstatusurl]/icq/$post[icq] Code:
/onurl=www.yoururl.com/icon1.gif/offurl=www.yoururl.com/icon2.gif/unknownurl=www.yoururl.com/icon3.gif I will add this to the documentation, and see what I can do about adding this to the Admin CP in later versions. Thanks, |
Super cool! I love it. My own image support would be awesome too. :)
|
O ya....
I just requested this earlier today.. I'll wait a few days to see if anyone finds any bugs.. |
where can I find the images?
|
Great mod but I discovered one little hiccup. I had previously modified "first_visit_message" and noticed it was still coming up instead of the new pharases in the mod.
I went to the phrase editor and saw that I had to "Copy default text" to replace my modifed text and then save. It's working great now. To recap: On the off chance you have modifed your welcome text you must go to the phrase editor and copy the new default text to the editor and then save. Thanks. Cal |

Calvorn: I will look into that and see what I can do about making it work in future versions. Thanks, |
Awesome. I will install this tonight! ;)

Nice Hack, but what about the time to load a page in vBulletin, as there has to be a Lookup for each Users Online-Status while preparing/loading the Postbit-Information... ?
Won't that slow down the forums ? Does the Status-Information gets cached for each user per threadview ? |

Well, all seems to be well, so I am removing this plugin from beta status. Look for a new release in the coming weeks.
|
Nice hack.
Is it possible to use this for userprofiles too? /me clicks install |

Great! Installed. :D
Random question, as it's new in 3.5.1: Is there support for Skype as well, since it was added in recently, or does Skype not do this yet? |
Skype is being added in in vBulletin 3.5.2 (see Kier's thread here). I am already looking for a way to tell somebodies Skype online status, which I will add to the hack when 3.5.2 comes out :).
|
hmm i like it but icq shows online, but my msn doesn't any idea's?
|
Interesting. What MSN client are you using? Unfortunatly onlinestatus.org is still down (I don't maintain that site), so all you can use is the default server, and that server may not be able to detect your MSN Online Status.
If onlinestatus.org stays down for the rest of the week I may setup their status indicator script on my server and you guys could use that URL. |
AFAIK there is no way to show the status of a user using msn.
There was a hole in previous versions but currently it is not possible. It is only possible for msn users that have specified that there is no need for someone to be on their allow list to talk to them ...which are a minority... |
Sad to say I uninstalled.. with that server it was taking forever to find status and no icons appeared when they were down..
once you get default icons loded and then they change only if user is online or goes offline then maybe I will re-install.. I love the idea but just to many issues when the server is down.. |
hey mate, great idea. but AIM is showing online, but everyones MSN is offline, when I know they are on... any reason as to why it can't detect MSN status?

cbr929rrerion: Yeah, unfortunatly onlinestatus.org is still down. I am searching for other servers though, and will hopefully have a nice list soon. |
I added this Hack, and the Status Icon shows up under the Member, but it always says "Offline" (Yahoo) though they are online and visible.
Any ideas? |
this hack will be great once u can use ur own images

The next version of this hack will most likely support custom images :). |
Cool plug in, remember if you dont like the icon that he has defaulted, you can goto www.the-server.net and select which osi icons you like... there are 4 sets as of now.
|
I've installed this but nothing is showing up? I edited the post_bit template as I couldn't find the code to replace in the postbit_legacy template. Any ideas on what might be wrong?
|
What version of vbulletin are you running?
|
3.5.0 (it says that in my postbit ;) )
|
did you import the product file?
|
Yes :)
|
Interesting. It should be right under this code...
Code:
<if condition="$show['reputation']"><div><if condition="$show['reppower']">$vbphrase[reppower]: $post[reppower]</if>$post[reputationdisplay]</div></if> This hack should work fine in vb 3.5.0. I will be releasing an update for vb 3.5.2 later tonight or tomorrow in which case you won't be able to use this hack for vb 3.5.0 or 3.5.1, but I can and will probably keep the old version available as a download. |
Installed and works great......thanks
|
Question, is there anyway of getting this to work in the threadbit template?
