help database making over load
ok my site is down and i get a message this site has used max cpu usage.. i called my host and ask them whats wrong they saying ur database is overloading the server meaning its searching too much if it don't found some thing it keeps looking n looking for it.. he said optimize the tables n queries
any one know how to do this ? thanks in advance... i have 3.7.3 atm installed and my db is arounfd159 mb and has around 30 mods installed in it. |
There is a repair/optimize option in your admin cp > maintenance > repair/optimize tables You won't have access to that right now if your site is down. Do you have phpMyAdmin? You may select the tables and do an optimize at the bottom of the list of tables.

There are tons of settings and configuration options you can use to optimize vBulletin with before you hit your server load.
If you are on shared hosting, what kind of traffic are you getting? Most shared companies will shut a vBulletin forum down after about 15-25 concurrent connections are being hit often, and its usually about the time when CPU usage is to high as well. And what modifications do you have installed? |
ty guys for your prompt reply
ok i did the repair and optimizing the tables and these are the mods i am using Quote:

Um... wow! That's a lot of mods! I'd try disabling the server intensive ones and see if that helps (I only have one or two of those, so I'm not positive if I've listed the correct ones) - any stats mod like Advanced Stats, who read a thread, arcade and casino, vbplaza, activity mod, vbshout, image resizer..... you know, you've just got a *ton* of mods that look server intensive. I can totally understand your host saying you are maxing out the cpu. Try just disabling all your mods and see how the site runs for a few days:
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php PHP Code:
