Well, even if that's true, I seriously doubt you are doing it legitimately (with the permission of Bitsys, Zajako, J2K, Mewtwo, and/or Rake).

Good luck with the port, though. :)

No, those are entirely different hacks that are in no way assosiated with this hack or its creator. ;)

You are right.
I havent asked them.
However, all those hacks were brought together and ported to wBB 1.2 WITH permission by Metal Gear. I asked HIM for permission to port the wBB version, and that I got.

So I think I got my asses safe here ;)

This RPG was the best and still is, I just wish someone would port it.

Hey I installed this hack, with the install files and just downloaded it so it was the latest version. I have been hacking vBs for a while, and I now have a test board I am messing aorund with. This is the only hack I have installed and like I said vBHacker said everything went perfect. It was a clean install of vB2.3.5 so it should of worked good.

I have a couple questions, there was 1 error that I found. When you went to edit your profile there was an error but everything showed up, however the info for the RPG stuff showed up twice. I edited ModifyProfile template a bit to just show it once, but it still shows RPG Name twice, so as far as that goes I think it's the only error. But can someone who wants to help me out, fix that, and also I really want to get some beta testing with it to make sure there is no other errors. I want this board to when I open it to public if I ever do be a "Camelot" based bored. So there would be Knights, Magic, ect. so this Battle hack is perfect. I just want to make sure it works good before I go editing it and hacking the board future.

So yeah besides the one error so far great hack, and easy install.

Camelot....did you install it on a vB3 forum??

CVMagic 08-30-2004 12:56 PM

I doubt he did, this hack requires alot of work to get it to work with vB3, considering that the API( the subroutines that it uses rather) that vB3 uses is considerably different from vB2 I would think that it would take quite a while to port at least with a php coder w/ no expirience with either otherwise i can imagine if someone actually got permission from the original coders of this hack that it could take a week at least to get something out there that resembles this hack on vB3, maybe a month til something stable is really out there. But i'm getting off topic now aren't I? I just dont believe a person who just hacks his board with scripts from here would be able to port it to vB3 because in reality its just way beyond his skill level.

rake 08-30-2004 02:48 PM

Having ported over 10 hacks of my own (including a battle system) from vb2 to vb3, i can say that it really isn't that hard to port one over, if it doesn't require hacking vbulletin's files. Most changes are in fact related to the evaluation of templates within files and the actual template porting.

PixelFx 08-30-2004 04:30 PM

All I can say is Rake's Battle Battle System is one of the nicest I've seen :) As for Bitsys's Battle System, last time I talked to him, he'd lost the next version of his Battle Hack on a harddrive crash ... I don't know if he's started working on a new one or not yet for vb3, would be cool thought.

rake 08-31-2004 11:24 PM

Thanks FixelFx! I just realised i said the same thing, 2 pages ago, in January. :D

Sorry ahead of time, I'm going to get into a small rant.... Is it just me or is something just wrong with most coder's HDs, literally i cant explain it but I've had this same machine for over 6 years and not once have I had to start all over because my HD crashed, I just find it strange that most people have these sudden crashes when their doing some kind of project yet I no matter how much work i do on my computer( and mind you I do alot of coding because its my job) I've never had it crash my HD... So the point im getting to, well dont you think these HD crashes might not be true at all but rather these coders are just too lazy to finish off their work so they just come up with the same lame excuse that other coders use all too comonly?

As for Porting, yes your right it is usually just template routine changes but my point really was to say that most webmasters dont even know how to do it in the first place so I doubted that person actually ported it over to vb3

AN-net 09-01-2004 02:40 PM

well we coders may be smart but i am pretty dumb when it comes to computers themselves. i fried a harddrive 2 times in under 3 years and had to wipe the harddrive clear 4 times:D

my current one has yet to have any of those problems but see im good with web coding not computer tech stuff lol

PixelFx 09-01-2004 09:09 PM

If a coder says he Fried his HD, or HD crashed, then 95% of the time chances are it's true. I fix and repair systems as well as being a coder, and work on application software, it sometimes would amaze you what things can happen when coding or combinations software that can crash a system even an hd..

As for Bitsys, he released the hack for free, so noone can complain about the hack in anyway at all, other than to make sugguestions when humanly possible to make updates.

PinFX 12-22-2004 08:03 PM

I just wasted a LOT of time trying to install this on my vB3.0.3 board... :(

for what ? maybe nothing, isn't it for vb2 only ?

PinFX 12-23-2004 06:41 PM

You see, this is what happened, I installed the vB3 version, it was ALMOST working, but I needed to tweak something. I opened up vbulletin.org and searched for the hack, but ended up on the VB2 version thread...

Long story short i had to go back and install the VB3 version, AGAIN, although it is working now

Gio~Logist 12-29-2004 06:09 PM

170 pages in this thread, DAMN, it must be good lol

to bad its for video games and not rap battles :(

Nintendo-Daily 12-08-2008 11:25 PM

this mod looks really cool and I am looking for something like it but I am using vB 3.7.4. Does anyone here know if this is compatible with 3.7.x or if there is something else very similar to this that I could use?

Zidane007nl 12-10-2008 12:32 PM

If you're installing the 3.5 version of RPG Integration located here with this fix, it should work.
You should use the search feature next time instead of posting in a really old version of RPG Integration that hasn't been active for almost 4 years.

Nintendo-Daily 12-10-2008 09:45 PM

everything else I searched turned up no useful information responses. Any other ideas?

Oyabun 12-27-2008 07:48 AM

Recode that for the new vbulletins plz O_o

bamfonk 01-29-2009 11:17 PM
