I've seen mention of this before. What is the actual problem? Anyway, Lesane will be adapting the hack for vB3 at some point. Surely he knows about this issue and can remedy it?

I'll be running my entire site off of vB3's engine, without any special hack for that. Just writing my own features 'n all, just do it the way the vB3 files work and voila :)

Interesting, I should give that a try, any ideas how might I learn to do that?

its a security thing, i guess its already been patched while it went unpachted for as long as it was out

personally i thought the store hack was rather crapy. it was overly long to install, and it never worked right for me.

i for one wont be using it :) even if its adpated for vb3 :D

It's easy, you just look at vB3's own files and just copy the technique/method that is used in there.

With vB(3), you have to keep the following in mind:

- you might want to work with phrases and phrase groups, instead of hardcoding your text in the templates;
- a lot of work is done via functions to keep things clean and organized
- you put your content in $variables that also reflect the position of your content in the templates that you're using.

I made a 'store' hack for vB2 but I never released it. I'll be porting it to vB3 and expanding on it and improving it a lot, so that it can accomodate a ton of things, but also be real easily integrated with other hacks without any hassle like file edits... That one, i'll also release :)

Yep, all I meant is that we will wait until the vb3 level is firmly established before we move up from vb2.30. We are not gonna deal with alphas, betas, gammas and the rest of it. So whenever they finally release vb3.00, we are gonna wait a few additional months until making a move.

Shoot, I don't know what kind of posters you have, but our people can get freaked out when we simply add a new forum. Some people even go into shock if we change a smiley or move a button. But hey, it is good to have members who are so dedicated and concerned.

:paranoid:

Ah, well, then you will probably be using vB 3.0.0 seeing as how they're trying hard to make sure that it's as bugfree as possible before releasing it for real. Their hope is that they won't have to release 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.0.x etc. later on, and can jump instantly from 3.0.0 to 3.1.0 when adding new features. I think that they'll succeed in that, but we can never be entirely sure of course :/

Just out of curiosity but to what / who were you responding with this? :confused:

Oh, I was just explaining that our users are sensitive to changes. Some of them will become catatonic when we go from vb2 to vb3. LOL

Ah, that...

Well, most forums who switched from vB2 to vB3 had their users go into a fit for a little while, because everything was new etc. etc. etc. But people got accustomed to the changes real soon, on the whole (from what I've seen everywhere, anyway)
