thank you :) I now just need to uninstall this one, then reinstall the old one...or upgrade.......I am always afraid of losing all my hacks etc if I upgrade.

adb22791 02-02-2006 01:54 AM

Upgrading with the latest version of vb (3.5.x) isn't bad, just make sure you make backups.

Burley 03-06-2006 11:28 AM

cool hack, clicked install

senkin 03-07-2006 03:59 AM

Cool hack man, I love this. Only one downside. When I am on MSN and I check my forums I see the unknown symbol instead of the MSN Online icon.

VB Version: 3.5.4
Your Hack Version: 1.0.3
Custom Icons Used?: Yes *All the others work fine*

If you need ne more info or if you know why please let me know. Thanks.

tuanluu 03-07-2006 05:08 AM

Work fine for me just updated

adb22791 03-07-2006 09:19 AM

I think this has something to do with your MSN settings. In order for the hack to detect the status of MSN you need to allow all people to see your MSN status through your MSN settings. I believe you also need to use the standard MSN client.

xxshatteredsoul 03-14-2006 06:34 AM

Works great :)

Sparks Kelly261 03-20-2006 02:38 PM

Question..?

How can one get the icons to just dissappear if the person is not online instead of gray?

--Kelly

adb22791 03-21-2006 01:20 AM

Your best bet is to make a custom icon that is the same dimensions, only white (or whatever color the background of your postbit template is), and set that as your AIM, MSN, ICQ, YIM Offline and Unknown custom icons.

bashy 03-21-2006 04:01 PM

Hi

Anyway, it has never shown any of there members statuses other than

Hornstar 03-21-2006 11:08 PM

yeah a plugin system would be great, the more plugins the better ^^

Also what are the two new features going to be, sorry if that was stated already.

Hi,
You can find a pretty good list of servers here. You can also browse that website for more about the Online Status script.

Until they put a code hook in for template edits in postbit and posbit_legacy I can't do much with plugins. But 2 template edits is still better than all the code edits you would have to do on 3.0.x ;)

The features list is currently...
Quote:

Features to be added:
-Ability for users to turn on or off the option to see online status icons
-Ability for users to choose whether or not to show their own online status
-Full XHTML Compliance
-Ability to display online status in user profile - on track for 1.0.4
-Ability to display online status in memberlist - on track for 1.0.4
-Ability to display online status in Whos Online
I have a beta build done right now, and I hope to have the stable version Friday.

bashy 03-23-2006 06:28 PM

kurtbarker 04-06-2006 06:38 AM

hey mate, I really wanted to put this hack on, but I have 3.5.1

I noticed you said it doesn't run on this anymore... is there anything I could do [extra template edits], or even an older version I could do so that I would work on 3.5.1?

thanks mate

adb22791 04-06-2006 09:28 AM

If you look at the first post in the thread, you can use that version of 3.5.1. It doesn't have support for custom icons, however it has all the other features of the current hack.

I strongly suggest you upgrade, however, being as its so easy in 3.5.x.

Thanks,

kurtbarker 04-06-2006 12:25 PM

in regards to upgrading, don't I lose all the custom template edits? coz that was the impression I had.

i've done so many edits I don't think it would be worth the hassle

adb22791 04-06-2006 08:21 PM

No, there should be no reason you would loose template edits. Make sure to make backups of your templates, database, and forum files before you do the upgrade though. If you have any code edits however, those will have to be redone.

reismarktq2 04-09-2006 01:38 AM

Noticed a couple of bugs in the template changes:

Any references to "$userinfo[username]" in the postbit and postbit_legacy replacement should read "$post[username]" instead.

Also, for the MEMBERINFO replacement, the original code isn't included in the event that IM Online Status is turned off (so you'd get nothing).

BTW, I'm going to click install for this, but I'm going to have to leave it turned off for the time being. No matter what I do (regardless of which server I use) the script will only work for AIM and for Yahoo. It won't work at all for MSN or ICQ. (I even installed the actual clients - I normally use Trillian - and made sure the settings were correct in there, to no avail.) The script probably needs to be updated to include changes in the protocol, and I'm going to leave it off until that's done.

I would appreciate it if you could keep us appraised in any updates in the situation, adb. :)

Added both to the bug fixes list for release in version 1.0.5.

This is an issue with the http://www.onlinestatus.org script apparently. I will take a look at this and get back to you, however it is not a bug with the Plugin. Does seem like a bit of a pain though :S

I have downloaded 1.04 but right now use 1.02 at my VBB v3.5.4.

I dont see upgrade directions for v1.02 to 1.04.....which one should I follow:

Quote:

To Upgrade from version 1.0.3: Make the template change below.

To Upgrade from version 1.0.1 or before: Overwrite the old product with product-imonlinestatus found in this zip file.

Hello,
To upgrade from 1.0.2, I would overwrite your current code changes in postbit or postbit_legacy with the ones in Install.txt. Also use the code for MEMBERINFO from Install.txt. And of course re-upload the product.

If you can however, I would suggest waiting until Friday to upgrade, which is when I am hoping to release version 1.0.5. v1.0.5 contains many needed bug fixes, and should run much smoother than 1.0.4 (however 1.0.4 runs fine right now). Also, the Upgrade.txt file from 1.0.5 will include upgrade instructions from 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3, and 1.0.4.

Thanks,

DF-inside 04-27-2006 04:26 PM

OK I wait, thanks for the quick response.

I was not aware that anybody was still interested in this modification. If there is interest, I would be happy to pick development back up for a 3.6.x version.

LOL I installed it on 3.6.4 and I can not seem to get it to run properly I do not see any options you have listed as far as users being able to set their status.

Should I unistall this?

Yes, as this version does not run on vBulletin 3.6. The 3.6 version would have been released by now, except there's a pretty tricky bug I'm trying to work out. I'm hoping I can release it Friday or Saturday.

Alex

rjmjr69 02-01-2007 12:21 AM

LOL I should have waited. Thank you for the quick reply I will keep watch. Good luck and thank you for the hard work

apiasto 02-26-2007 04:17 PM

Tralala 03-17-2007 05:51 PM

Would love-love-love to see this for 3.6.

adb22791, got a PayPal address I could send some bucks to you for happy encouragement?

adb22791 10-07-2007 12:18 AM

The long awaited 3.6.x version is here! Please post all bugs / inquiries about that version in its respective thread.

Thanks,
Alex
