200 bucks to repair the database? That's steep. Are you sure they can charge you for that?

Do i really have a choice? It's either that, buy a dedicated server or delete it. . . I am trying to get into the account so I can at least grab the emails of my forum memebrs. I have a sql backup from 3 months ago, better than nothing i guess. . .

Yes, but my logic is, if you can have them move it for 100, you can get the database backed up, and find a cheaper host. see my logic?

AHHHH!! Gotcha. That is a grat idea!

I will. Thanks you all for your help!

Delete the search index, delete the newsgroup forums, then run optimise one table at a time. This should stop their server from dying (assuming they let you restart it). Prune all posts with no replies for 90 days. Re-run optimise and you should have a much smaller db. For this size db I would be using phpmysqladmin - definitely not repair.php

If you have such a long forum, why don't you have ads on your site to pay for it?

Sebastian 04-10-2003 10:55 AM

that means its time to get a dedicated server.. MOST host out there give you xyz diskspace and that space is included with mysql.. i guess there are some cheap hosts out there that will suspend customers accounts even though they are under their alloted diskspace..

i'd move to a dedicated server if i were you, its only a matter of time when it gets back up to 1.7.gb.

Well it looks like I am ++++ out of luck. I have to start over from scratch. QUESTION:

If i run my backup via PHPMYADMIN in the SQL forum everything should come back correct??

filburt1 04-10-2003 11:27 AM

LOL, definitely not. PMA is unreliable even for small dumps.
