From the error message it appears that you have not deleted all files from the vbSEO package. You must do that manually.

In @ShawneyJ's list: "Delete/remove all vbseo files include .htaccess from your server via ftp or cpanel."

@ShawneyJ - Thank you for giving him a hand with this. Very kind of you. :)

your welcome. thanks ;)

Why can't you just disable vbSEO, why are you trying to uninstall it?

vbseo has to many security holes. it needs to be removed.

he/she can disable in vbseo panel.
but, there comes a time it would need to be removed, like backing up your site with vbseo lurking in the background.

the other pain is, vbseo can never ever be used after uninstall as the serial number can never be activated again because vbseo shut down.

which .htacess
yes.

Terrablade 06-12-2014 06:49 AM

Which .htacess. Located where exactly?

ShawneyJ 06-12-2014 06:51 AM

forum root.

Terrablade 06-12-2014 06:52 AM

delete the WHOLE .htaccess or specific lines?

ShawneyJ 06-12-2014 06:54 AM

which ever .htaccess contains this:
Code:

# Comment the following line (add '#' at the beginning)
# to disable mod_rewrite functions.
# Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
# the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
RewriteEngine On

# Some servers require the Rewritebase directive to be
# enabled (remove '#' at the beginning to activate)
# Please note: when enabled, you must include the path
# to your root vB folder (i.e. RewriteBase /forums/)
#RewriteBase /

#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.yourdomain\.com
#RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yourdomain.com/forums/$1 [L,R=301]

RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron|vbseo_sitemap|api\.php)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?))$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !/(admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]

remove completely.

Terrablade 06-12-2014 06:56 AM

@ShawneyJ ... I am not arguing your advice here. Your advice is solid :) Just trying to assist him to getting to square-A. He should do a full backup after he is up and running and then try to remove it as you suggested.

@Terrablade, if you have not backed up your site already. You should be doing that immediately. Always, always back up your site before and after doing any work on it. My small sites are backed up every hour and my large ones are backed up in multiple fashions almost continuously. All of my development is done on a local test site then a test site on the production server, before it is released for full production.

ok i'll start dinner lol.
like tbworld said. it does sound like vbseo files still lurking in forum folders/files. im still thinking its .htaccess.
good luck.
