You can hook the PS3 via an ethernet cable just like the computer, that's actually a little better than wifi and how I have mine connected- you just need to run a cable from the router to the PS3.

It's kind of hard to do when it is across the room and no where near the computer.

What do this have to do with hooking up the PS3 to the net? The kinect is the move-type controller system.

Oh I see... sorry... You have two options...

1) Buy a wifi access point and connect PS3 via Wifi... This I think is the best idea because there will only be more and more things using wifi like ipads, kindles, digital picture frames, all types of gadgets... you should get with the times. :p

2) Buy a ethernet over powerline (Amazon Link) adapter- there are several models out there, this is just one as an example, I haven't used any personally but they have high ratings. This will allow you to plug an ethernet cable into an outlet on one side of the house, convert the ethernet signal to run over your home's power lines, and then use another adapter to convert the signal back to ethernet more near the PS3.

3) Have someone stand holding the PS3 by the computer.

Glad I could be useful.

Is it noticeable I haven't slept in 24 hours?

And there is the problem. I havbe no idea what to buy and everything that I would need. I'm not as tech savvy as you youngsters are. I can tear down and build up a computer, but anything further than that, and I get all fuzzy in my thinking. Age will catch up to you all oneday, too. ;)

As long as you never get any power surges, huh? ;)

You could just run a network cable across the floor like I do in my house. :)

I'd have to have 1 that is at least 10 feet though. Do they even make them that long?

Considering the amount of coffee I consumed last night...yes.

I read somewhere that the maximum length for network cables before their so long that performance begins to degrade is 100 meters. But then, I read that on another forum, so I don't really know where that info comes from, or how the 100 meter cables are made.

I think I'm using a 50 foot cable. http://www.monoprice.com is a good place for stuff like that.

But of course I'm just kidding. I really do have a long wire running across the floor, but normal people go with the wireless option. :)

the ps3 is sooo 2006 :p
The kinect has some really cool "hacking" options, so that would be my choice.

We don't watch dvd'd or blueray, and I have enough peripherals that are connected online :)

Glad you like your ps3 :)

Can you recommend a good one from there? I don't understand what the 350 MHz has to do with ethernet cables.
