Yep! Don't know how many times I've announced a forum shutdown for an upgrade, and then get a mass of messages/PMs afterwards crying about no announcement.

We had this on our forums and it was useful. Especially when we wanted to address a large portion of the site, rather than all. Also, people, in my experience, are more likely to read a private message than an announcement. I miss this (and many other) hacks that we had on 3.0.7

for forum announcements about shutdowns and whatever else i just make a box on the forum page that i put announcements like that into. i do see the benifits of pm's specific usergroups

I believe the overall feeling is that the majority of the users don't read the announcements. So for the announcements and for reaching certain usergroups it would sure come in handy if we had the possibility of pm-ing all users at the same time or just the ones of a specific usergroup.

Note: Has this been done yet? lol.. I did a search and replied without checking up on it any further. Sorry if I have been a bit to hasty :nervous:
