Okay, so now my problem is when I use the [tex][/tex] tag in a thread it just shows the text. How do I make this text so it shows the image that does now work and should be used?

Thanks in advance,

CH

If this could be made so that the functions are more close to the normal writion of functions in plain text (eg using only parentheses) it would be soooo great!
Even as is I consider installing! The users in my math subforum will loooove this!

[high]* Lea Verou is clicking install to be able to find it easily and maybe actually install afterwards :)[/high]

I have mine set up and chmod'd properly and I still get internal server error. It works fine off the command line, however. :huh:

holy shit. this is exactly what my forum needs as it is for math students at my university. thank you for bringing this to my attention.

wtf, i compiled it myself, put it in my cgi bin, and chmod it to 777, and it still gives out internal server error:

http://www.internationaldiscussionforums.net/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi?x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

i compiled it and installed it fine, this is a really great plugin, but i have the following problem, and i am pretty sure that it is within vbulletin:
ok, it seems like every time i use a parenthesees before an equal sign, the img tag gets truncated and the image that renders fine, upon reload does not appear to be present...

example:
Code:

\int_{a}^bf(x)dt=\sum_{i=1}^n f(\overline{x_i})\Delta x
this renders when i hit submit, but if i reload the page, the picture does not show up

Code:

\sum_{i=1}^n f(\overline{x_i})\Delta x=\int_{a}^bf(x)dt
this however works fine

infact after playing with it
Code:

x=f\left(x\right)=\int_{-\infty}^xe^{-t^2}dt
this will display nicely all the time, while if you take that x out or the first equals sign it bombs and outputs nothing...

nailed it down to this in the html code, and its really weird...

when the image errors out, the image tag reads:
Code:

<img src="http://ourdomain/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi)dt=\sum_{i=1}^n f(\overline{x_i})\Delta x" />
and that obviously is not valid as .cgi is supposed to be followed by a question mark and instead a bunch of code is missing and it all starts after the close bracket sign...

the same code, but where the 2 sides of the equality are swapped, and hence it runs, like i said, like its supposed to (the equations are those of the above code samples) reads:
Code:

<img src="http://ourdomain/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi?\sum_{i=1}^n f(\overline{x_i})\Delta x=\int_{a}^bf(x)dt" />
does anyone else experience similar trouble? anyone have any idea where to start looking for a fix? anyone has any suggestions? i cant be the only one with such weird problems...

P.S. site is running vbulletin 3.5.3

Hi We recently bought the license for vbulletin and we wanted to integrate LATEX following the steps as per this link:

http://pi.bloo.us:800/academic/latex.../#Installation

but after doing all the steps the Editor Menu showed up with the Maths Icons with Sigma ..

But after selecting the Symbol even if we press the Preview or submit the symbols are not visible...

Any other thing we need to do? Please help

You can see our Forum in the following Link:

We got our License... and we have installed vbulletin in the server...

To integrate the Maths tool set as per below ... We followed the steps in the following link

http://pi.bloo.us:800/academic/latex.../#Installation

After this.. We got the Sigma Icon in the Post / Thread Editor Menu and we could able to select the symbols... but it comes in as a kind of Code... something like this:

[tex]\stackrel{}{\rightarrow}[/tex]

[tex]\sqrt[]{}[/tex]

but even if we preview it or post it ... above continues to be shown as it is ... but not the Symbols as expected...

Please clarify ... should we install the LATEX software in the server? which is around 600 MBs??

Is there anything else we should do? .

Please help

Thanks and Regards,
