How exactly is AVF "being painted into a corner" by switching to XenForo and, as part of that long term plan, created a style that partly mimics the software they are planning on switching to so that their existing users are slowly eased into the migration?

Wow if that's the case then that is sad. Didn't a bunch of coders leave vB just before 4.0? ...or maybe it's because vB was bought out. It's certainly not the same feeling as with the original vb.

How are they "slowly eased" into migration if the people using the forum don't see the other half? To them the migration has already happened. And if you're saying that they're switching from vB 3.8 to XenForo well, all I can say is no one deserves XenForo more than them :D

No, to their community members a style change has taken place, not a feature change. The migration for them won't be truly felt until they experience feature changes but in the interim the general look & feel that they'll be using in the interim will be close to the general look & feel after the migration.

The fact that they are switching is not exactly a secret if you've ready any of the XF related threads. ;)

Okay - that was likely a bit much - but I'm just not seeing a huge resemblance to xenForo, except for the angular nav breadcrumbs, which can be coded on any vB skin.
