Also vb.org will upgrade when they are ready, we should just be happy it's running a 3.6 version :)

vBulletin 4.0 really sucks and nothing much changed since 3.8.x is the same features so vb 3.8.x is better than 4.0 vb.org should absolutely upgrade to 3.8.x series...

You telling them to upgrade in everypost wont convince them to upgrade until vb4 gold comes out.

Speysider 12-02-2009 02:58 PM

no no no no no
If vB.org enabled this then the forum would be down forever as we'd all be clicking the button to those who make a mod.

If you didn't know, this forum is hosted on the same database and server as of vBulletin.com. Problems here, affect vB.com which would be catastrophic for their business.

I'd be happy if vB.org banned pointless 'Thank You' posts, that people generally just put in to promote their signature links.

How they go about that, I don't mind.

What's a thank you mod, like Kudos? Brownie Points? Then again, I suppose it'd be better to have a system rather than continuous posts thanking someone else's. Maybe we should all just stop being so nice, lol.

But seriously, I don't think it'd make a difference.

puertoblack2003 12-11-2009 09:10 PM

Thank You

Speysider 12-12-2009 08:11 AM

Just not gonna happen.
The reasons have been re-iterated several times above. =)

Vaupell 12-17-2009 09:22 PM

i dont think so,,,

the quality of any thank you mod, is just to low for vborg.
Leave it as is, and be happy we got good admins/moderators
except when they hand out Infractions :(

oh btw isent this post a 3rd or 4th time this question has been raised ?

I completely agree, I'd go as far as to say it looks bads on VB if there mod sites are not upgraded as per the latest release. It hardly make VB look confident in there product, does it.

I'd also like to see a thanks mod of some sort added, although alot of people will say many make pointless thanks posts, alot of people don't and I'm sure you would still get people posting thanks to promote there sigs. Adding a thanks system would get people who would prefer to press a button rather thank make a post, thanking the author. Although if you look at the install to download ratio, a lot of people can't be bothered to click that, so who knows how it well it would work, maybe placing an install button to the left of the Quote button would be more beneficial.

I guess we're all different though, I'd like to get an idea of what people thought of stuff I released, as it would inspire me to do more, but if the demand on the forum is too great then you can't really argue as performance is paramount.

If this was added (which it won't), then you would have to say, bye bye vbulletin.org.
The database for this forum is on the very same server as that of vBulletin.com. So, problems on one forum, affect the other forum.
