This is a good mod and it seems to work on 3.7 beta 6 after patching. However, I can't seem to find documentation on how I can custom the mod. For example, instead of physical and magical attack and defence, I wish to change them to other stats. How can that be done?

neomateria.net seems to be down. Any help is appreciated.

Is there anyway to change the button in the nav to have a class of "vbmenu_control2"? I need it to be that in order for the nav button to look right on my skin, but I have no idea where to change it at. :(

If it's not that, I just need some help for the button to look like the others in my navbar/header rather than being incredibly ugly and not fitting like it's supposed to. :P

I used this a good while back, and then it ended up giving me a crap load of errors. Anyone get this working reaaaaaaaaally successfully? I love the mod, hell, I'd be willing to toss a little cash to get this back.

Mine is working correctly... I have 100 monsters and lots of items... there are some bugs, in the inventory where you can duplicate the items, but members don't know it... so they can't cheat... but the hack overall is working fine.

I'm using all latest version both forum and rpg hack... there are some modified files that allow you to do a fresh install on the latest vB version... But if you don't find them (they are in this thread) you can always install it in vb3.5, and then upgrade to latest vb version.

I'm actually running 3.7.2, so I'm kind of skeptical to install this because last time I installed it on 3.7.0., and even with the suggested fixes, I saw a few crazy errors.

You have given me some hope though haha, so maybe I'll make another dev board for my forum and test it on that.

I have this running great on my forum and my membership is very happy with it.

The only issue I find can be annoying is the fact that a post is needed upon level up to increase HP/MP levels...

Does anyone know a way to bypass this?

FYI: Copying the contents of the 'rpg_stats' template into the 'rpg_postbit' or 'rpg_postbit_legacy' template will show stats in your postbit after adding $rpg_postbit or $rpg_postbit_legacy to whichever template your forums draw from :)

Hrm. I tried to install it on my forum using the patch, but it actually wound up killing my reply features. It would just go to a blank white page. Same with trying to use any of the other pages that it enables. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I would say a fresh install may help...

I had to do it 3 times before getting it to work properly...had to go into the SQL and remove all instances referring to the rpg hack.

Read back a few pages for help doing this :)

I have it working so far on 3.7.3, i made sure to append the install files with the files attached earlier.

I've went through a lot of the posts and tried a search, but did anyone post some improved postbit code of their own? The neomateria forums appear to be closed.

Update: That particular file was not agreeing with some rules on my host (HostGator), and I had to contact them to correct the issue.


Can anyone help, I can't access the Class Manager, I get:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /admincp/rpg_classes.php on this server.

I've tried reuploading the file and checking the permissions (which are the same as all the other working files). It's only that section that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I had supplied the updated class installer patch before doing the fresh install as well.

Any suggestions for a formula to specify weapon/armor specs?

For instance perhaps weapon Cost/20 = Strength?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know where I can edit or disable this addon giving $10 per post?

My existing money system was handling that and gave me more control, and now my economy is getting a bit off balance with this hack giving relatively large bonuses in all areas of the forum.

Do we replace original files with the patched files?

Or do we actually create directories and copy the patch files to those directories like this:

\upload\installer\class_installer.php
\upload\installer\hacks\rpg_integr_hack\install.ph p

* also, aren't these supposed to be forward slashes?

From what I understand, 3.6+ has trouble with the mod unless you install it in 3.5, then upgrade to 3.6. Kinda a pain in the butt, but I believe others have it working. I'm still on 3.5, so it's been rather easy for me.

This is kinda frustrating, as I think the base number is kinda limited since they can't select more than one item in battle.

I replaced the existing files with patched ones and then installed, and so far it's ok aside from the bugs and questions I've had so far.

They're forward if your looking at them on your server. They're backwards if your looking at them on your hard drive.

I have a user that has a bugged item shop. Whenever they sell, they get the money, but the item stays in their inventory, allowing them to repeatedly sell the same item.

I'm not sure how to handle this. I've checked the database tables, and I have no idea where it's even specified what items users own.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone know how I can get this mod to stop giving 10 points/dollars/etc everytime someone makes a post.

It's preventing me from allowing people to have a section where they can spam and post nonsense without being rewarded.

I think that isn't necessarily to do with the RPG hack but with another one, more specifically a points mod. If you installed Ucash/Ustore or Ebux or Vbplaza (just to name a few from the top of my head) then there should be some kind of option in the admin cp where you can edit all that information. :)

Wow this thread is still going... I guess I should make some form of announcement...

There's good news, and there's bad news.
The bad news is that it's not going to be freely available here, due to the sheer amount of time I've put in it.

The good news is that I am working on v4, and it is shaping up to be awesome. Not necessarily with features alone, but because it's module based. What it means is that if you want only, say, support for Guilds, and you don't care about Battles or Items or any such things, you can get only those two features.
You're not paying a huge premium for features you don't want, and you're not bogging your forum down with queries for features you don't want.


Since I'm barely done with the Core (which is nothing beyond character creation), and even that's not fully ready for all the modules I'll be writing for it over time, I don't have any time frame or pricing (not that I would be allowed to mention the latter even if :p). All I can say is, it's going to be quite reasonable, and you will be able to pick up every single module without feeling like you just bought something that should be delivered to you via a Concorde with fox skin seats and a parade of dancing girls.


v4 is also going to be easier to install, and I've scrapped the installer used in v3 in favour of vBulletin's own product installer system.
Thus far, nothing is requiring template changes either.
Additionally, it's not going to require an external money modification to work (but I'll probably add support for it at some point in the future), so none of the configuration hassle that's apparent in this thread.

I have to say THANK YOU for coming back and letting us know that something is being worked on. Recently, our current verson of your hack has had to be disabled due to it messing with our 3.5 vB showthread.php...and it's one of the most popular features of our board.

If there's any way you can keep it so that it works with the 3.5+ series I would sincerely appreciate it. I'm not sure if that's doable, but there are alot of us still using the older versions.

Still, and regardless, I can only wish you the best...you have truly made an exceptional mod, and I know tons of us are happy to hear this announcement. Good luck, and I'll definetly be paying attention. Mahalo!

I hope there will be a way to migrate users experience points and perhaps automatically sell everyones equipment prior to an upgrade to 4. I will not mind paying for a robust RPG.

I didn't have any immediate plans to provide an upgrade path from v3 to v4, since it's a vastly different mod where very little will actually seamlessly port.

However, I might look into creating some form of importer - though it's going to be filled with a fair amount of default values, I reckon.

An importer with many default values or even just a way to initially distribute base exp. based on post count would be fantastic. I just don't want everyone who worked on their existing RPG characters to feel like they've just been wiped.

A "Rebuild EXP" feature for re-calculating all users' RPG levels based on their current post count was always going to be included in the new Maintenance area.

What I meant was, equipment. Not only does that depend on having the Items plugin installed, but I'm relatively certain that that will be different enough from v3's equipment system (even if we discount the fact that the Stats system - meaning how Defence and such stats are calculated - is 100% different) so that writing an accurate importer is going to be difficult.
