ok, my chat is working now.
if anyone else has this problem, but are new to irc and don't know...

goto your admincp>options>vboptions>vbxirc settings. in the Irc Server, delete the irc.dal.net and insert: irc.vbulletin.nl
name your room.
hit save.

it should work now.

Helloz all...

Although it seemed, everything went smoothly during the install...i have the following problem:

http://www.gamers.gr/board/chat/index.php

Any who can help?

Thanks in advance

Ps

Also, if u go here: http://www.gamers.gr/board/ and click on chat, and click on the first chat option, u will see that the link is : http://board.gamers.gr/chat/index.php? . Where can i change that? I want it to be http://www.gamers.gr/board/chat/index.php

Thanks

Make sure your Site and General vBulletin Options are set correctly.

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 11:29 AM

Ok fixed the problem of showing http://www.gamers.gr/board link thanks a lot:)

But my main question, is that i cant make this hack to work

See plz:

http://www.gamers.gr/board/chat/index.php

seangworld 10-01-2004 11:38 AM

you're not putting the correct path to your folder. if you go to that file, right click it and select edit (via ftp). go to line 19 and your error is there. on lines 17 and 18 you will see your example of what yours may look like. it's supposed to be the location to your forum via ftp. for example, mine looks like: chdir('/home/dabombcrew/www/vb/');

\web\gamers.gr\board\chat\index.php <=====go here and right-click that index.php file, select edit.

goto===>line 19

fixing line 19 will fix your errors on line 44.

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 11:56 AM

Hmm...I am little confused:)

(i got a bad cold last night and i am little dizzy)

I saw your reply, then i put the following: /home/gamers.gr/board/ or /gamers.gr/board/ but nothing:(

If i go to my ftp, via Cuteftp, i see above the following: /gamers.gr/board/

:(

Is there any way to find the actual path?

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 11:57 AM

Hmm, so the path is \web\gamers.gr\board\chat\index.php ?

I know how to edit it(its easy via Cuteftp), i dont know the path:(

Thanks in advance for any help

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 11:59 AM

Update:

I put the following path: \web\gamers.gr\board and it seemed it fixed!!!

Thanks for your help my friend, be blessed:)

seangworld 10-01-2004 12:03 PM

you're welcome.

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 12:05 PM

Edited, fixed the null problem...only the images now:P

Also, can someone explain my the 4th step of the installation(as it seemed i did something wrong)

seangworld 10-01-2004 12:07 PM

your fix is on THIS page, posted by me as well.

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 08:09 PM

lanc3lot 10-01-2004 08:48 PM

lanc3lot 10-02-2004 12:31 PM

What to copy and where?

Thnx

ianforest 10-03-2004 04:32 PM

This has probably already been asked but...(42 pages is a lot to scan through!) how do I get to use the different chat client that vbulletin.org uses??? I'm not a great fan of pjirc :(

Thats what vBXirc is, pjirc. I have no current plans to write another chat intergration unless i write an offical one for vBulletin.com

ianforest 10-03-2004 07:58 PM

ok! still, very good integration!

Sanni 10-04-2004 04:23 AM

Hi Zachery I am having a slight problem. I installed the hack fine on my dev server and it works like an absolute charm but am having troubles getting it to work in my prod server. The installation script didnt come back with any errors but i get the following database error when trying to launch vbxirc:

Code:

<!--
Database error in vBulletin :

Invalid SQL:
        SELECT * FROM vb3_style
        WHERE (styleid = 0 AND userselect = 1)
                OR styleid =
        ORDER BY styleid ASC
        LIMIT 1

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax.  Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ORDER BY styleid ASC
        LIMIT 1' at line 4

mysql error number: 1064

any ideas on what might be causing this?

Sanni 10-05-2004 09:29 AM

got it to work nevermind :)

HumanNature 10-05-2004 10:52 PM

This is 0% intensive on the server, 99% of the work is done on the client end, and the rest is done on the IRC server :)

HumanNature 10-05-2004 11:32 PM

This is great! Thanks a lot, Now I have it runing but when the user is not logged it goes to the file .../forum/chat/login.php and this file doen´t exist and I don´t know what is wrong. I will make a searh now to see if a solve it

Mattius 10-06-2004 07:17 AM

Pretty sure ive had all the options set correctly under vb options in admincp, but nothing shows in IE, and in Firefox i get the plugin screen. It offers to find a plugin but finds nothing and doesnt install one....

Im sure its something simple...

Reupload the files, and make sure you ran the installer script.

First of all, I?ve translated the files to the Spanish, If you are interested in it just tell me and I will send it to you.

Something strange is hapennig to me. I have two domains, one is my primary domain and is the only domain I want to use, (this domain redirects people to my ..../forums/index.php) the second domain is and add-on domain and is pointed to a folder in my server that have another vbulletin installation (for test purposes and password protected).

The strange thing is that when I enter the chat using my primary domain and my normal vbulletin forum, I am redirected to this:

www.mysecondarydomain.com/forums/chat, every works but..... the style of the forum that is showed in the chat window is not my style, is another style that I have in my second vbulletin installation for test purposes. What a mess...

My primary domain point to this -> www.myprimarydomain -> and this is redirected to -> www.myprimarydomain/forums/index.php

My secondary domain (add-on) points to this -> www.mysecondarydomain/vbtest (and it is password protected)

When I go to the chat on my primarydomain the direcction that I get in the browser is -> www.mysecondaydomain/forums/chat

Hope you can help me because I don?t undestood it.

Note: I have installed the chat in both vbulletin installations

I don't see the problem, he hasn't redistributed it, he merely translated it to another language. I'm no lawyer though, but I am however in a lawsuit as we speak over IP (and I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night)....

Tried a reinstall and still have the same issue. You say this

Quote:

That is where you will modify the settings, add/edit modules, and add/edit new pages.
at the end of your installation readme. All i have under the vbxirc settings in admincp/vBulletin Options is:

Allow Guests to enter?
IRC Server
Port Number
Room name
IRC Guest Name
Quit Message
Show Graphical Smilies

Nothing about adding modules, adding pages etc?

Those are the options...

Can you give me an example of the finalised settings, atm i have:

Allow Guests to enter: Yes
IRC Server: irc.dal.net
Port Number: 6667
Room name: #games
IRC Guest Name: guest_???
Quit Message: Good Bye
Show Graphical Smilies: No

Which is basically default.

Do i need to download and install the java applet from pjirc? The latest version is 2.0.4. I thought that was included in the /chat folder in the zip file...

Failing all this i can set you up with an admin account if you like Zach, just drop me a pm in these forums...i really need ya help.

venomx 10-07-2004 07:28 AM

Try a different network.. I believe dalnet blocks java clients... I know I couldnt connect via dalnet when I set mine up...

Mattius 10-07-2004 12:51 PM

tried a differant one...made no differance. Im thinking i might have to scrap this soon, which is a pity.

Try upgrading your java client and make sure your firewall allows port 6667

Mattius 10-07-2004 09:00 PM

YA! it worked :) anyone else having this problem, try and download the latest SUN java runtime...

at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Thx Zachery and everyone for your advice :)
