you can see the version string at the mobiquo/conf/config.txt file, usually accessible from the web browser to your forum.

Jiffy sorry the package here may be a bit out-dated as we pushed out new version at http://www.tapatalk.com I believe the latest version is 1.6.3 - check it out and it should be fixed, if it still doesn't let me know again I will look into it for sure.

I also updated the package here.

Yup!

FYI just released version 1.4.7 of the Android app with full support of vBulletin style QUOTE formatting and improved image upload quality.

z0diac 05-10-2010 07:39 PM

I just got the notification about "improved image quality" uploading, but to my eyes, nothing has changed.

This, believe it or not, was a 5MP image:
http://www.ontariostorms.com/attachm...6&d=1273516279

(if image doesn't load just hit refresh.. for some reason my vB has this problem (never happens on my other 2 vB forums))

It's been squished down to a tiny 320x240 image, and is still heavily compressed as seen by the pixelization.

Hi Zodiac,

This update fixed image upload quality issue when you select the image from the library, for image taken directly from the in-app camera it still an on-going work to improve it. Perhaps you can take the image outside Tapatalk app and try uploading it to see if it makes any different?

Hm... I made 2 more posts, each with 1 attachment. 'Selected them from my stored media gallery, and it's still resizing them to 320x240.

1024x768 would be better (or 800x600 minimum). Ideally 1400 wide or even a setting with different options that the user could choose from...

Can you provide us an URL so we can take a look on it?

We are working on improving this issue as well. :)

The URL was linked a number of times in this thread. I killed the thread about a week ago. It was just a 320x240 picture, shot out the window looking down the street, with some trees on either side and a road in the middle.

If you really need an example to correct it , just let me know and I'll go re-do it all. (but please, only if it's going to be fixed soon. 'No use me doing all that if someone is just going to look at it and say 'hm, yah.. it's a 320 wide by 240 tall image').

Cool we are looking into it at the moment.

Wow today we're reviewing some of the old posts of this thread.. The Android app was first requested in March 2009 and we released the app 9 months after. Just want to share another news that the Tapatalk for Android app has reached to Top 5 Social app in Android Market. THANK YOU GUYS to make this happen!!!:eek:

yellowpeter 05-26-2010 07:14 AM

Just rolled out another Android app with ability to disable auto-rotation. Now I know you guys love reading in bed :)

An even BETTER idea, for those of us who've paid for Tapatalk, is the ability to attach USABLE pictures to msgs. 320x240 is a thumbnail.

Please please... instead of spending time making new apps, please make your current ones usable for the users who've paid for it!

I haven't used Tapatalk since I installed it. I bought it SOLELY so I could send pictures to my forum while out on the road. I know it was only 3-4 bucks, but that's 3-4 bucks wasted for me.

It's nice that the images have gone from 320x240 to 640x480, but we really need some options here. 1024x768 *minimum* , especially for a 5MP image. 1280 wide would be perfect.

As much as I appreciate the size going up to 640x480, that's still not a practical image size when screens are now 1920x1080 wide (so a 640x480 picture only uses 1/7th of the screen size). If the coders were going to change it so made bigger images than the original 320x240, why would they go up to only 640x480? If they're going to spend some time to make it better, why not make it right?

1024 or 1280 wide PLEASE!

Regarding the image upload quality - the issue here is the memory of older device such as G1 with extremely limited memory, again we will look into what we can do and perhaps to set different image quality with different device model etc.

??? My Motorola Milestone is a fairly new device (512MB on-board memory, 16GB microSD memory)

I just updated my app from itunes and I dont see any improvements on the ability to rotate the screen to landscape mode? I have always been able to do that once I am starting a new thread or replying to a thread but not globaly? What exaclty changed with the new version?

badabing i have also received another report like this from other user. still looking into the issue but it appears the landscape will come back after you reinstall the app. in any case we are rolling out the update real soon.

yellowpeter 06-11-2010 07:34 AM

we have found the issue related to the "Auto-Rotation" settings we have added. To enable the landscape you will need to turn off the auto-rotation, restart the app, quit the app, and turn on the auto-rotation again so see the effort.

in any case the new app sent to apple will have this issue fixed.

1320Nation 06-11-2010 12:46 PM

Can some please tell me if the app is working on my website? I do not use a phone that supports the app. http://psychobike.com/forums/

And if it is working, could you list the phone you are using to view it. (i.e. iPhone / Android / Nokia/ Blackberry)

Thanks!

Apple just approved another iPhone update of Tapatalk, here is the change log:

- Fixed crash issues
- Fixed landscape mode not enabled issue
- Moved Settings to inside the app

I just upgraded to 1.7.1 on my forum, and the market says I have the latest version on my android phone. I now get a java script error when I look at who's on line.

I try to read it, but it goes away fast. "0 java input stream reader@ number and letters" something real close to that error

I've been using Tapatalk for months, today I found out that it doesn't work well with this mod- https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=181315 - That mod blocks users from posting in a thread if the thread starter has the user on their ignore list. However with Tapatalk user's can post in any thread. I also have a 'ban user from a thread' mod and don't know if that can be bypassed too as none of my tapatalk users are banned from any threads and I don't have a compatible phone to test it with.

Well since I've seen this hasn't really been addressed, I will... even before you could have banners in the app- the new iphone version now supports a small banner- I chose to implement this as a service to my loyal members. The vast majority still will visit via their web browser, but when they are on the go I would rather have their traffic- viewing and posting- then nothing at all and this app seriously helps to increase participation from Mobile users, so that is why I'm willing to let someone else make a little money- I don't think I'm "losing" money because likely the users wouldn't come at all without tapatalk- it doesn't really cost me anything to implement so there's no downside. Also half the users block ads with firefox and other add-on's anyways these days so again not having ads in tapatalk isn't a big deal. I bring in far more from offering an inexpensive premium subscription option then I ever make from google ads or banner sales anyway. I also offer a mobile 'style' for those who don't want to pay for tapatalk or windows mobile / palm os users who don't have tapaptalk, but anyone who used both always prefer tapatalk.

Not 100% sure yet, our server admins are still investigating. I edited my post to more accurately reflect that it happened after updating TapaTalk, not necessarily as a result of updating it.

BirdOPrey5 06-24-2010 04:09 AM

Did you guys ever consider giving 1 free license to forum admins? I don't know how this could be integrated into the app store but 1 freebie for admins who go through the trouble of installing this and maintaining it doesn't seem like too much to ask?

No, not at all, the only downside is the Apple redeem code only works for U.S iTunes account, and Google does not provide free code like Apple. Apple allows only 50 codes per version so we can't really commit to all forum owners (there are over 30 forums added to Tapatalk daily...)

What I can do is to publish whole bunch of free codes here in first come first serve basis? But probably it will violidate the vb.org rule of technical only discussion.
