I am trying to check out the hack on different sites and the chat link is always blank. I tried turning off my firewall to no avail. I am using XP home.
What do i need to do to be able to SEE how the chat works? If I were to install it on my site I would need to know the requirements for visitors to use it. Thanks Dave |
I installed vbXirc yesterday, you can find it here: http://chat.lavkarbo.no my forums is located at forum.lavkarbo.no ... :)
Some users have problems connecting, but it works like a charm for us admins... :p |

Anyone know how to make the chatwindow to be edited to my different style colors?
|
Quick question.
I got most everything to work right, but some of the buttons say "Undefined String" all the way around the template. Also, some of the IRC chat functions are coming up also as "Undefined String". Any suggestions? Thanks, Josh |

Any other suggestions for a Chat script for VB 3 that also works behind firewall. I guess my work blocks IRC.

I upgraded vB a few weeks ago and the chat page broke. Now I tried to upgrade it and I'm still having a few problems.
First of all, when people visit the chat page, it says: Quote:
I remember fixing this ages ago when I first started using this script, but can't for the life of me remember how! Thanks, Casp |
Hello, I've been running vBXirc for several months now with minimal problems. I am having one small problem and have a quick question:
As I mentioned a few pages back in this thread, I am not getting the smilies to appear at all. The option is definitely turned on within my settings and I haven't modified any of the chat templates in any way. Besides me, all the other users I talked to do not see a box either. Finally, some of my users have complained that's it's too hard to tell if you have an incoming private message from another user in chat because there's no beeping sound like there is in mIRC. Ideally, I'd like to have incoming messages pop up in a new window but I imagine that would be too much work. If, upon receiving a new message, it would beep or flash their nickname, that would also do the trick. Any ideas? Thanks a lot. |
Hmm, just installed a new board and saw this file edit:
PHP Code:
only 'forumhome' => $vbphrase['group_forum_home'], what should i do? |
THat is the correct one, i havent updated the instructions in abit. ive not had time :\

Does anyone happen to use this hack on the DALnet servers? I've noticed the DALnet won't allow dial up users to use this hack. They always get klined. Broadband users have no problems at all. I figured there's something being done in the script with the hostname that might be freaking DALnet out. Anyone have an idea? Maybe there's something I can alter to prevent that.
I'm thinking it's because JavaUser ends up in the hostname and the DALnet network protects itself from Java-based users. Where could I change the default hostname to be something like ForumUser instead of JavaUser? |

I don't understand what ya mean hehehe :) But hey Zachery, no prob you hadn't time to update, we all have busy days. Patience is a virtue hu ;) |
only 'forumhome' => $vbphrase['group_forum_home'], that is the correct line to add it under
|
I have installed this hack.. and it refuses to allow users to log into the chat if they're logged into the forums. What's the deal with that? A cookie or security issue? I used to have a pjirc hack prior to upgrading to vb3.0.1 and it worked fine.
Any thoughts? Here is my site www.orderofronin.com If you register and login the chat won't work, if you're logged out, it will. |
I take it that my server has to be IRC compatible coz all i'm getting is 404 not found :ermm:
i've prob done something wrong but the intructions did say something about your server having to be irc compatible, how do i find this out?? other wise installed perfect, love the "Chat" link and also nice feature of a pop-up window :nervous: |
Well, if your getting a 404 youve done something wrong, this uses an external server.
Btw im currently working on 2.5.2's offical release :D |

Chat Powered by: vBXirc 2.5.2 :tired:
INSTALLED! EASY!! one wee problem thou, says my username is already in use then logs me out :ermm: |
ermmmmm wot does all this mean :ermm:
|
I had this working minus the fact dial up users were getting klined from my server until i installed this version. I don't really see why it changed anything, but now I'm getting connection: null errors. Anyone else? I was able to login ONCE, but after that I get all nul errors. Same as everyone who attemps.
hIBEES, all of my dial up users were getting the same error on DALnet. Broadband users had no problems, but dial up users were getting klined for a week when using the script. Not sure why. |
This is what I get...
Connecting... Logging in... -- *** Looking up your hostname -- *** Checking Ident -- *** Found your hostname Your username is invalid. Connect with your real username, in lowercase. If your mail address were foo@bar.com, your username would be foo. Error : Closing Link: oRElGuapo by Lausanne.CH.EU.GameSurge.net (USER: Bad username) Disconnected from irc.gamesurge.net ...BUT, if I log out of my forums, I get right in. I also get this on Zachery's site.. ??? Why? |
Probaly your server not liking your username, not the hacks problem
|
Zach:
How do You enable the use of the [ ] and other special chars? As I understand, Quakenet supports special chars, but the chat allways writes my name as gEPHIONBAD and not gEPHION[BAD] ? Other than that, sweet hack :) |
I'm using Guest??? and it always works if I'm not logged into the forums. Can ANYONE help?

Ok, I found the code to change the popup I think inside the vbxirc_small template. It's the same as the code find/replace as the vbxirc_index template.
I have a question now though. I want my navbar to look like the navbar on the rest of the site, with the BBtitle/link small, and where I'm at larger in bold beneath it unlinked. Like on the Arcade, or the Members List, the Calendar, etc, etc... How do I do that? |
