You can find all of the messages in the phrase manager, just search for them!

cant find the 4 phrases :ermm:
I modified the code and installed it through the plugin system, but none of the phrases show up in the phrase manager. Maybe its something obvious, I'll keep poking around.
EDIT: It was right infront of me. Sometimes I scare myself :rolleyes:
EDIT #2: I found 2 of the phrases and edited them, but instead of changing them there are now 2 copies - the original and the modified of each phrase. Is this normal? Also, still cant find welcome_postmoreoften and welcome_neverposted

there is a mysterious table directly below the welcome box. In firefox it appears to be just a small dot (centered) and in internet explorer it is a full width divider with the attributes of my normal tables. (grey background, yellow border)

If you added $welcomeheaders to your header template, then this will show up on cmps, vbgallery, vba links, and anything else that calls in the vbulletin header.
Did you do the template edits correctly?
Did you import the product?

Excellent hack! Thanks.
In the first_visit_message it reads like this:
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact <a href="./sendmessage.php">contact support</a>.
The word contact is used twice when it should be once.

I feel that this may better suit the message for unverified email, remember you just change it to suit your needs.
<b>Your account has not been confirmed and is not yet active! </b>

To become a registered user on this forum (required for posting and accessing special features) you will need to verify your email address by clicking a special link sent to you in our original welcome email. If you have lost this email, or it never arrived, please go <a href="./register.php?do=requestemail">here</a> to request another activation email be sent to you.

<b>Important</b> Hotmail, Yahoo and Aol sends the email to your junk/spam folder.

Ted, I just tried installing this and am having some problems.
I removed all of the correct code from the forumhome templates on each style, added the $welcomeheaders variable to the header templates, imported the xml product. In my ACP the product shows as installed, the different phrases show up, but there's still a major problem....The headers don't show up at all. My old welcome message still shows up, and interestingly enough, it shows up on every page now, rather than just the forumhome header like before.
Please tell me how to fix this.

I'm using VB Advanced as my homepage and the message appears here as well. Is there any way to make it only appear in the forums?
edit: I fixed it by putting this in the welcome template at the top
<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT != 'adv_index'">
with the closing </if> at the bottom also. Damn I'm good.
I'm getting an "Undefined" error message. You can see this error if you go to the board at http://forums.rabidfandom.com/. How do I correct this problem? Thanks for your help.

It sounds like they are showing up just fine... just with the wrong phrase. Go to the phrase manager and update the first_visited phrase as desired.

You need to follow the instructions contained in the original download, mainly removing the default welcome message from your forumhome template and adding the variable $welcomeheaders to your header template.

No, it's not diplaying the default phrase contained with your hack, it's displaying the custom phrase I've had for months, except on every page rather than just the forumhome.
It seems the coding isn't properly calling up the correct phrases.

What I did, was I went into the created template, and changed the tables to look more like the original welcome message. I also pasted it into the FORUMHOME template in the location of the original message, instead.
Find:
<br />
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="alt1">
Replace With:
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">6<else />5</if>"><phrase 1="$vboptions[bbtitle]">$vbphrase[welcome_to_the_x]</phrase></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">6<else />5</if>">
Find:
</td>
</tr>
</table>
Replace With:
</tr>
</td>
And so on, the way down. It looks less out of place, in my opinion. I've got my site linked in my profile, you can check it out if you want to see the results. :)
The only problem with this of course is that it only appears on index.php, as opposed to all pages.

This is now installed on my forums. 8)
Edit: Today I banned a test account from my forums out of curiousity for what being banned from a vBulletin forum looks like and I saw a welcome header being displayed on my test account.
This can be fixed by changing the Welcome Headers [Alteration] plugin to:
if ($vbulletin->userinfo['usergroupid'] != 9)
{
eval('$welcomeheaders = "' . fetch_template('welcome_headers') . '";');

Somehow you lost all your tables that hold your site together.
I'd turn off the plug-in, get rid of the template changes, and then verify that your site validates with Tidy. I use Firefox, and it has a Tidy plugin. In addition, it can outline your tables and table cells, and let you see what's what.
I'd get your site validated and then make sure you add the template changes in correctly.
BillP
02-23-2006, 11:58 PM
Let me reiterate that....
The Tidy plug-in has the ability to clean-up the page and then view it in it's cleaned up state. By cleaning out the bad HTML, your site is fine.
BillP
02-24-2006, 12:03 AM
It looks like you slipped the welcome message into the wrong part of your HTML. You must put it in where it is documented to put it in, OR you need to bring a lot of HTML experience in so you don't munge up your existing HTML.
I compared where it is in my "View Source" to yours and you put it in a completely different part of the page.

I would like to suggest a 5th welcome header for people who have not been around for say at least two months. I propose it because it would be inappropriate to ask someone who has been gone for two weeks to say hello again in the hello forum, but it would be appropriate to ask someone who has been gone for a few months to say hello again in the hello forum, which is something I would like to do.

Ted S

The {1} tag inserts the first variable from the template into the phrase, {2} inserts the second and so forth.
The phrases can be modified by adding an English translation (or whatever your primary language is), that will show up in place of the default.

The problem is that the $welcomeheaders displays the following when I'm not logged in:

I believe this is the original VB message. Am I correct? How do I know that the $welcomeheaders displays this message you may ask? I simply replaced the $welcomeheaders with $welcomeheaders1 in the header template and the message was gone.
Is $welcomeheaders one of VB predefined vars? Or is it something created by the plugin for this MOD? Where is the value of $welcomeheaders kept in, in the database or in XML file?
Thanks a lot,
Peter
The FRUMHOME code is gone and the $welcomeheaders is still in the header template.
The problem is that the $welcomeheaders displays the following when I'm not logged in:

You need to edit the first_visit_message phrase for a different message to appear on the forumhome page.

I can't seem to get this hack to work with VBportal. I constantly come across this problem using VBP. Anything that requires me to use a $variable it will not show. Has anyone had this problem and know how to correct it? I've tried asking over in their forum, but they are very slow to respond.

Because you have not removed the original vbulleting welcome message from the forumhome template. You can find out how by looking at the instructions file. :)

Thank you for such a fantastic plugin. This should definately be a part of the vb base.
There are always a number of new sign-ups that never seem to complete the confirmation process and then a percentage of those emailing us for support. This plugin is going to go along way in solving both of these issues. Thank you again for putting together such an outstanding plugin!
ive installed everything but no appears and nothing is in my admincp like options or maybe i dont see it, i uploaded the product xml and everything
There are no options in the Admin CP after you upload the product, but you have to edit the 4 phases it says in the install instructions, to give you the customised look you want. Also you made the template edits to remove the guest message and to add $welcomeheaders code where you want it to where you want it. Also if you than one style, you have to do the template changes in all the styles.

Excellent a breeze to install.
Just what I have been looking for. I will now have to give it a week or so & see what my stats read.
I always felt that forums needed a better way than e-mail confirmation it confuses a lot of users, & also we all know how AOL deals with e-mails & there browser. I am now hoping this will make a valued improvement.

This modification does not send out automated emails. The code in question is for informing members that have not posted for a while in the header template that they have not posted and would they like to (or whatever you edit the phase to).
So the emails being sent out must be from another modification, not this one.

An improvement idea! We are missing a step!
After a person has validated their email, could you create a new banner for being put in the moderation que to approve their registration, and then show the welcome never posted banner.

When you set email validation on and a user validates their email, they are put in the Registered Users usergroup as default, so there would be no point in adding an extra message.
There Should be 5 Steps Not 4 Steps
Ted S has a great 4 steps: (1) welcome message for guests, (2) message for those who did not get an email to verify or who gave the wrong email address submitted, (3) a message for those who validated their email to post their first post), and (4) a message for those who have not posted for 2 weeks.
Totally awesome! I love it.
I also moderate my accounts though for registing as I have no choice, because sometimes spammers come in from 4chan.org for example plotting by bringing in 100 to 185 people at once to spam literally hundreds of grotesque posts in just a couple of hours (and they do this a couple times a week, picking their spots for the attack. So you see I have to moderate registering. Initially, I took the message to post a first post to an "Introductory" forum to allow new members to post in this forum while still moderating registration. Those in the COPPA user group could post in the Introductory forum, but still the spammers would come. They only don't attack my site when I moderate registration and disallow posting until a registration is approved.
As it is now, I changed (3) to read as follows:
"Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! If your registration is now approved, why not make your first post today by starting a new topic or responding to an existing thread.
Why not start with your first post today and become an active part of Biblocality Christian Forums now!" http://biblocality.com/forums
However I would prefer, and it would be better, if this message came after a message 2.5 which says something about being in the moderator que waiting for the account to be confirmed. Please be patient for a moderator to approve your account.
Then, after an account that has registered is approved, they can receive header that invites users to post their fist post to any forum.
After someone validates their email, they are not placed in the Registered User Group for my forum, but they are placed in the COPPA (Users Awaiting Moderation) User Group to become Registered Users.

OK, the quick and easy way is
Create 1 new phrase
Phrase Type: GLOBAL
Product: Welcome Headers
Varname: welcome_coppa
Text: You are currently on the Moderation Queue, awaiting account confirmation. Please be patient while waiting a Staff Member to approve your account.
Edit the welcome_headers template:
Find:
<!-- / guest welcome message -->
<else />
Paste underneath it:
<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 4)">
<!-- / coppa/moderated user message -->
<br />
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="alt1">
<phrase 1="$vboptions[bbtitle]">$vbphrase[welcome_coppa]</phrase>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- / coppa/moderated user message -->
<else />
Save your template, and that is you all done, you now have your 5th message.

I have 3 group memberships too, so I added 3 more messages. If the person has posted in the last 2 weeks, it gives a quick sentence what the responsibilies are for each group memberhip. The message that shows up depends on what membership they joined so their role is always on their mind when they come to the forum. Yea!
That seems to work. Don't forget to add the </if> at the bottom, and I think the code belongs after:
<!-- / unconfirmed user message -->
<else />
It does not really matter where you put it in the sequence, if it in the middle then you don't need to worry about the </if> as it is taken care at the bottom of the template.
Glad it helped you out though :) Just add as many messages as you need, but please take into account if have too many of them, then your members will start to ignore them, and that will be bad for retention.

Ya.
If I add a new message without the </if> at the end, it always causes an error.
I have to put them in proper order in this sense for the user groups. If a person can belong to more than one usergroup, then the usergroup that always takes presedence must go before the other usergroup messages, and they all must go after the posting your first post message as well as well as the 2 week no post message, otherwise usergroup will never see the first post message and no posting for 2 weeks message. I love it. Now anyone who has joined the Apostle for a region, Elder of a locality or Elder of a meeting place user groups will see what their responsibility is always never to forget it for the Church. But if they don't even post on the forum, then this shows their losing interest by not studying and writing something they have learned, and if they can't even post once every two weeks, how can they focus on their responsibility of their office? It is just a quick short sentence, but it is everything that describes their responsible undertaking! This is exactly what I needed. Everything in my forum has an awesome cause and effect relationship.
Those unsaved are handled. Other members of the body of Christ still can post and do most functions, but their responsibility and/or gifting is elsewhere. The forum becomes a solid structure for the Church from top to bottom, by meeting at the bottom Elders of a meeting place with the apostles at the top to point to Elders in the middle of a locality (also with a meeting place), which is a miniature of the new city in the new earth and which overcomers are rewarded to reign over these tabernacle cities (type-the tents, in coming out of Egypt). The cause and effect is from 12 apostles, and more apostles to follow, to elders of a locality to elders of a meeting place to the whole body.
If they don't join the map and yet say they are elders of a meeting place, something is not right. If they join the map and don't say they are elders, something is not right. If they say they apostles and yet say they don't agree with the apostles decision to use the map to appoint elders, something is wrong. If they say they are elders yet don't join the user group, something is wrong. If they speak contrary to their responsibility, something is wrong. If they enter their meeting place wrong, it shows something is wrong. And all the header messages produce 5 steps along the way (+3 usergroup messages for the body of Christ forum) do the same, indicating when something that needs to be done first or was done incorrectly. All these checks and balances are very intriguing and very useful. I'm just left with an Amen.

Do you think it is ok to have a fairly large guest welcome message like I have?
I just looked at yours, in my opinion it does not matter what size it is, it matters if the message is effectively put across and it helps encourage additional sign-ups.
My forums have a message that is about 5 times larger than the one you have, but the way I have laid it out has increased registrations and returning members by about 50-60%, there are now a lot more members who contribute to our community and return for more, so as I said, you have to pitch the welcome message to your target audience, if you do it effectively then they will come in droves :)
I would advise that you bullet point your special features rather than point them to a thread, having the benefits laid out in one place will far outweigh the time you take to properly lay out the message, you can use a lot of XHTML in your welcome_first_message to be able to put across an effective message, remember you may have to play with it a lot to get it to look right, but the benefits your community will reap will be worth it.
But saying that, the welcome message should only a part of your arsenal to retaining members, it should not be the only method of trying to retain members, because once you get them to register, your content will have to be able to be interested enough to to convert a member into a regular and contributing member. You will also want to advertise your site in the right areas and get the search engines spidering your site as well.
I hope this post points you in the right direction on how to get started.

I don't seem to be able to edit the phrases in the admincp. I saw the tips on how to in some earlier posts, when I click on edit in the phrase manager it shows me the text but I can't change it.

I'm not sure if this is working for me or not. When I am logged in as a guest I get this message on the first line " Welcome to the [ARG:3 UNDEFINED] forums. ". The rest of the welcome message seems fine. It appears there is an error there or maybe I'm just being a newbie and have to somehow define argument 3 myself? To test the other functions I registered a user, but did not activate him through email verification. I logged out, logged in again and I'm not seeing the message to activate my account. Is there a certain time limit that has to pass before that message appears? I'm using V 3.5.4 by the way. Have others installed this successfully in that version? TIA

I had that issue and I think for some reason I had to do this step again.
Select the FORUMHOME template and scroll about 20 lines until you find the code <if condition="$show['guest']">. Remove this line and everything below it until you reach </if> (note: there is another <if> ... </if> statement nested within the code that will also need to be removed). This will remove your current and default welcome headers making room for your enhanced headers, save the template.

I have an error as Welcome to the [ARG:3 UNDEFINED] forums.
How can i fix it ?
It sounds like you have not removed the original welcome message from the FORUMHOME template. You can do this on your own or look for a how-to in the instructions file.
If you have removed this, check that your phrases were updated by the plugin by searching in the phrase manager.

Ok I have a question. I run vBadvanced CMPS and when I'm in the main index page, the welcome header still says welcome to the Forums and not the index page. Any ideas on how to make it display the index page title?

Stupid question and I am sorry if this has been asked before...
But where do I find the section to edit each header? I went to the Welcome Header Template, and this is all I that is there:
<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT != 'register' AND THIS_SCRIPT != 'login'">
<if condition="$show['guest']">
<!-- guest welcome message -->

</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- / guest welcome message -->

<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 3)">

All of the phrases can be found in the phrase manager for editing.

Is there an easy way to find these entries in the Phrase Manager? What type of phrase are they listed under?
Edit: Nevermind, I found them under GLOBAL type.

What actually happens when I click on the INSTALL button up here?
Your account is updated to reflect that you have installed the hack; I get "credit" for another install and while posting in this thread it says you have installed this hack. But the real benefit of using the install feature (aside from showing what hacks are used) is that you get alerts if and when a hack is updated. This is crucial for keeping your board secure -- after all, if this or any other hack turned out to have a security bug you would want to know about it, so please always use the Install button.

When i installed this, it came up twice, once in its own box below the header and again in the defualt box where the old message was. What have i done wrong?
Ted S

You need to remove the original welcome header in the FORUMHOME template. You can find out more by looking at the instructions file.

There's actually two <if condition="$show['guest']"> lines in the FORUMHOME. The first one is after the 20th line and the other one is almost at the bottom.
You'll need to delete the FIRST one, not the one at the bottom. I deleted the last one when I installed it and it showed the ARG error. Deleted both now and it works fine, just fine. Thanks for the mod.

Seems that the TAGS are not working for me...
I have this in the template:
<phrase 1="faq.php$session[sessionurl_q]" 2="register.php$session[sessionurl_q]" 3="$totalposts" 4="$numbermembers" 5="$sum_userfield[total]">$vbphrase[first_visit_message]</phrase>
Yet if I add {3}, {4}, or {5} in the phrase nothing shows. These three worked fine when I was just using the vbulletin default guest welcome message. These variables do not work in any of the Welcome Header phrases.
any suggestions?
Ted S
03-19-2006, 05:39 PM
Those fields may not be available in the header template, you could try moving the $welcomeheaders variable to your FORUMHOME template instead.
ChrisBaktis
03-19-2006, 05:56 PM
I moved them to the Navbar and still no go.
the Navbar currently has those variables (on the forumhome page) so I know the Navbar can handle those three variables.
ChrisBaktis
03-19-2006, 06:12 PM
On a side note - doesnt work in the FORUMHOME template either.

This isn't working for me in vb3.5.4, it's not showing up at all - nowhere on the site.
I've followed the instructions, removed said code from the forumhome template & added $welcomeheaders at the bottom of the header template & installed this product.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong as many people seem to have this working well for them...
Suggestions?

It worked for me as far as showing, but I use a left side nav menu carried over from vbadvanced and it screwed up the table formatting big time, so I had to remove it. I realize that it shouldn't have as the code in the template had all the tags properly closed, however it might have been a lack of span tags, I'll revisit it in the future, otherwise, good hack.

Good stuff! To bad that the instructions do not include how or where to modify the text. Please explain.

Yes, the plugin is enabled & I have added $welcomeheaders to the very bottom of the header template and removed the correct code in forumhome. I can see that it created: first_visit_message, welcome_unconfirmed, welcome_neverposted, and welcome_postmoreoften.
I have Dynamic Forum Home Announcement Hack by Logician but disabled it temporarily until I can get this working.
Any more ideas?

Works good, but one question in which I hope someone can help me.
The messages show up within a table about an inch wide (but then like 10 inches tall) rather than a 100% width table.

Ok. IS anyone else having trouble getting register.php and sendmessage.php to link correctly when people try to use this on the vbadvanced CMPS index page? On the forum page everything works fine but on the index page the link is incorrect. I even added the two filenames in the cmps default settings. What am I doing wrong here?

Ok, found where you can modify the phrases
AdminCP > Languages & Phrases > Phrase Manager
These are the phrases that you can customize:
first_visit_message
welcome_neverposted
welcome_postmoreoften
welcome_unconfirmed
rivacityj

Well this is probably considered bad coding but in the welcome_headers template I changed argument 2 to "http://www.myhomepage.com/forums/register.php" and changed the first message phrase so that it linked to "http://www.myhomepage.com/forums/sendmessage.php". I didn't know you could put html in a phrase. First I tried creating an argument 4 in the template but it wouldn't allow me to for some reason. I'm sure there was a cleaner way to do it but hey it worked.

You can modify the layout by modifying the welcome_headers template and/ or the phrases first_visit_message, welcome_neverposted, welcome_postmoreoften, welcome_unconfirmed to fit your needs.

OK, the quick and easy way is
Create 1 new phrase
Phrase Type: GLOBAL
Product: Welcome Headers
Varname: welcome_coppa
Text: You are currently on the Moderation Queue, awaiting account confirmation. Please be patient while waiting a Staff Member to approve your account.
Edit the welcome_headers template:
Find:
<!-- / guest welcome message -->
<else />
Paste underneath it:
<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 4)">
<!-- / coppa/moderated user message -->
<br />
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="alt1">
<phrase 1="$vboptions[bbtitle]">$vbphrase[welcome_coppa]</phrase>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- / coppa/moderated user message -->
<else />
Save your template, and that is you all done, you now have your 5th message.
Can anyone advise, I would like to add a message for all registered users, with my own custom text etc, to promote upgrading but also to point out site wide rules & links to rules.
How would this be set.

No clue? I don't use that hack. The purpose of this one is to provide you with a quick, simple and effective way to reach out to guests, new members and unactivated accounts. Beyond that I would imagine you will want to evaulate all your options and see what makes the most sense.

This is a great plugin! I'm using it now.
However, I find that after I get all my wording in by changing the XML file, my header now is HUGE... have a look - http://www.tvtalkforums.ca. I'm kind of concerned that it doesn't look the way I want it to, but it does come across a little bit as "begging" the user to sign up.
How can I test the other 3 phrases, besides the unregistered one?

Well at a minimum you should remove:
<thead>
<phrase 1="$vboptions[bbtitle]">$vbphrase[welcome_to_the_x]</phrase></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">6<else />5</if>">
<phrase 1="faq.php$session[sessionurl_q]" 2="register.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[first_visit_message]</phrase>
</td>
</tr>
However, your template is in need of some restoration. You have a </if> tag that doesnt correspond with an opening one as an example.

Hi, it is possible to have a 5th header which informs people if their paid subscription is about to run out?
It doesnt look like there is a userprofile field for that information so you would either have to create a hack to pull out the date or find out of there is a variable that does that already.
Can anyone advise, I would like to add a message for all registered users, with my own custom text etc, to promote upgrading but also to point out site wide rules & links to rules.

That should be easy, do the following:
Create 1 new phrase
Phrase Type: GLOBAL
Product: Welcome Headers
Varname: welcome_members
Text: <PUT THE TEXT YOU WANT HERE - YOU CAN FORMAT IT WITH XHTML AS WELL TO GET THE LAYOUT YOU WANT>
Edit the welcome_headers template:
Find:
<!-- / hasnt posted lately message -->
<else />
Paste underneath it:
<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 2)">
<!-- / registered member's message -->
<br />
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="alt1">
<phrase 1="$vboptions[bbtitle]">$vbphrase[welcome_members]</phrase>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- / registered member's message -->
</if>
Save your template, and that is you all done, you now have a message for your members.
The formating of the XHTML I will leave up to you, but the frame work is there for you to add the message.
Hope this helps.

Please don't use larger fonts, it makes the page difficult to read.
As far as accessing these variables, you can use $post['fieldX'] where is the field number you wish to reference.

Ted, I was also wondering, for a particular fieldX, in its drop down box selection, let's say there are 5 choices. If I wanted 2 of those choices to show one header, and the other 3 choices to show another header, what is the formatting for the code so that $post['fieldX'] = more than one selection?
Also, in welcome_headers, what would be the function that removes a person from a usergroup if they change an answer in a fieldX?

If like me, you want a banner to be displayed to people who have a paid subscription which is about to expire, you can achieve it with the following.
(Please note I am not a PHP coder and haven't written a vB Plugin before so if someone more knowledgeable could check the following for me I would be most grateful.)
Firstly create a global phrase named "welcome_soontoexpire" containing the message you want displayed. I chose the following...
<center><strong>Your Club Membership will expire in {1} days.</strong><br /><br />We hope you will choose to stay with us!</center>
...which will tell them their paid subscription is about to run out, plus it will tell them the number of days they have left.
Next edit the "welcome_headers" template and add...
<if condition="$headerexpiremembership != 0">
<!-- / membership nearly expired -->
<br />
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="alt1" style="background-color:#FF0000;">
<phrase 1="$headerexpiremembership">$vbphrase[welcome_soontoexpire]</phrase>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- / membership nearly expired -->
<else />
...before this line of code.
<if condition="$headerstime - 1209600 > $bbuserinfo[lastpost]">
Also add the following to the very end of the template.
</if>
Finally create a plugin for the "Welcome Headers" product with a hook location of "global_start". Set the title to "Soon to expire memberships", and add the following as the PHP plugin code.
$subscriptions_reminders = $vbulletin->db->query_read("
SELECT subscriptionid, expirydate
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "subscriptionlog AS subscriptionlog
WHERE expirydate <= " . (TIMENOW + (86400 * 14)) . "
AND status = 1
AND userid = " . $vbulletin->userinfo['userid'] . "
");
while ($subscriptions_reminder = $vbulletin->db->fetch_array($subscriptions_reminders))
{
$headerexpiremembership = round((($subscriptions_reminder['expirydate'] - TIMENOW) / 86400),1);
}
That's it! It is hard coded to display the banner when the paid subscription has 14 days or less remaining. You can change the 14 on the following line to be however many days notice you want.
WHERE expirydate <= " . (TIMENOW + (86400 * 14)) . "

Ted, I was also wondering, for a particular fieldX, in its drop down box selection, let's say there are 5 choices. I'm not familar with the structure of these fields as I don't tend to referance them outside of the profile.
However, I believe $post['fieldX'] == 'male' would work to see if the field value is set to male.
When people change their profile it changes their data and therefore immediately changes what header they see.
Since I am not versed in these fields it may be a good idea to just print them up by putting $post['fieldX'],$post['fieldX'],$post['fieldX'],$post['fieldX'] into a welcome header message, reloading the page and seeing what comes up. If you can do that and still need some assistance let me know.
