I would greatly appreciate any help for the following:

How do I code the below so it complies with XHTML 1.0?

1. First off, the CSS ... is the CSS below correct?

I am so stuck i want to smash my head against the monitor. :ermm:

for XHTML, you can use this validator: http://validator.w3.org
and this http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ for CSS.

There are also some threads in this forum that guides you how to code a XHTML valid page and the errors you may get.

the 3rd question. I don't get what you mean.
