Could you help me figure out how to remove the (x%) from the postbit_legacy display? What exactly do I edit?

if the coder will be back sometime.

Improvement suggestions:

- PMs should be saved in the warners pm folder

- 2 banned usergroups should be supported. one for temporary bans and one for everlasting bans

Great hack, thanks. Might it be possible to not display the warning information unless it is greater than zero? Despite a very obvious news item, I'm getting my forum members panicing thinking they are being warned.
[Update: edit functions_warning.php and find
$Bits = array();
and after it add
if ($Current == 0 and $showlinkage == false) {
return "";
}

Inferno Warning System updated to v1.3
----------------------
1.3 Updates:
- Bug Fix: Warning points to be given were not consistant with maximum points allowed (the drop down menu went from 0 - 10 no matter what)
- Bug Fix: Those who cannot recieve PMs (either via turning it off themselves or due to other permissions) resulted in an error when you tried to warn them, this no longer happens but the PM will not send.
- Added new flexible warning expirations 'Hour' (Allows you to make the warnings expire in hours aswell as days/months)
- Added extensive flexible ban times (Now allowed to ban a user for x hours/days/months)
- Added post modifier notice (Allows the staff member to automatically add a notice to the top of the users post, allowing others to see that the post was warned)

Enjoy,

Hello.
I think it's quite important that warnings can be edited. Perhaps there has been a spelling mistake in the comments.
More likely I want to change the expiration period. I have had to do it via PHPMyAdmin since deleting and re-adding the warning is a real drag.
Thanks.

When I added this my users went nuts - had no clue what it was and those with 0% thought they were in trouble.

I made a slight modification:

[code]
if ($Current == 0 && $user['userid'] == $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']) {
return 'No warnings.';
}[/cpde]

in the functions_warnings.php script above the return so that it would display No warnings to the user if they had a 0% score. This seems to have cut down on the panic.

docvader
01-19-2006, 01:12 AM
Are you still able to issue post related warnings if the little graphical display is not there? And where exactly did you put this modification?

MPDev
01-19-2006, 01:56 AM
Yes, because this only appears to the user themselves; not to the moderators who would warn that user. It's to avoid a 0% display which is confusing to my users.

I put it in the first function in functions_warning.php:

if ($Empty > 0)
{
for ($e = 0; $e < $Empty; $e++)
{
$Bits[] = bit_builder();
}
}

if ($Current == 0 && $user['userid'] == $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']) {
return 'No warnings.';
}

bada_bing
01-19-2006, 02:27 AM
if ($Current == 0 && $user['userid'] == $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']) { return 'No warnings.'; }

I have added this code but had a question. Will only the staff see the meter like Mods,super mods & admins? and the rest of the usergroups will see the "no warnings" correct?

Also when that member is warned wll they then see the warning meter?

docvader
01-19-2006, 03:59 AM
MPDEV, very impressive.

If you are an admin, you see all the warning meters. You see "No warnings" for yourself
If you are a member, you see "No Warnings" for yourself, and see no warning meter for anyone else.

Cleans it up nicely.

Brilliant.

But, if you warn someone, only they see it. No one else does. Which, if you're looking for a little public chastisement (we do, we warn people and send them to HELL, our members really kind of like that, believe it or not...), you lose a key feature of the warning system.

Any way of keeping it like you have it, but, showing a warned member's graph to the world?

[EDIT]

never mind, I got it after having a look at the file itself.

Just one more thing, how do I allow moderators (along with the administrators) to see the warning meter? and be able to issue warnings?

Thanks

I'm not sure whether or not this has been asked yet, sorry if it has - but are there plans to create some sort of location to keep track of ALL warnings issued? Basically one central log for the admins to list all warnings issued ordered by time, I guess

A working solution is to download and install "Custom Queries with parameters (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=96199)" by MarcoH64 and import the following xml! It contains two queries : Warning Log (ALL) and Warning Log by Moderator, both with custom order fields and sorting. ;)

EvilHawk
01-19-2006, 09:31 AM
Yes, because this only appears to the user themselves; not to the moderators who would warn that user. It's to avoid a 0% display which is confusing to my users.

I have made something simillar with a different approach (no file edits)!
I have put the postbit templates edit between an if statement
<if condition="$show['inlinemod']"><br /><br /><div class="smallfont">$post[warning]</div></if>

So only members with moderating rights can see it in the postbit and my members can see their warning log at their public profile! ;)

MPDev
01-19-2006, 11:48 AM
Another tip I use, since I use the postbit_legacy and don't like making the iplogged section two lines (opens up all that space to the right where a couple button sit; I prefer the warning indicator in the profile section along with all the other user information. I also like it formatted like the other items:

So, in the postbit_legacy template, I put the code here:

<if condition="$post[icqicon] or $post[aimicon] or $post[msnicon] or $post[yahooicon] or $post[skypeicon]"><div class="info">$post[icqicon] $post[aimicon] $post[msnicon] $post[yahooicon] $post[skypeicon]</div></if>
<if condition="$show['warning']"><div class="smallfont"><div class="info">$post[warning]</div></if>

Any way of keeping it like you have it, but, showing a warned member's graph to the world?

The only thing my change above did was instead of displaying a 0% meter to a user, it says "No warnings." to them; it doesn't change any other functionality and only effect what the user sees about themselves. To show a warning level to the world would mean changing some other logic and I haven't looked that close to know offhand what to change.

When I issue a warning and tell the system to increase by 1 which my maximun warning level is set to 20 it all seams to work and will show 5% WARNING on the members waring level. Now if I issue a decrease of 1 for that same member it does not decrease the members warning percentage but rather still shows 5% ???? What is this ?

Also does someone have a manual they can share about this hack to how your using it and your methods?

a suggestion

its great u can put in a mesage for the post warned for all to see however, it should be if u do that its seen clearly as a warning message

now u cant really tell did the user put that in or is that a warning

something like this

------------
post warned
------------

message for all to see in whatever color that is not default

and it should be at the bottom, also the warning message should not be able to be edited out by the used

GTAce

I'm going to assume the message box in the posts accepts bbcode? If so, just add bbcode to your message....

You can actually edit the template so that there is some default text displayed in the boxes, that's what I've done

Any way to coordinate this with the "Miserable Users" hack and send them to that usergroup instead of the banned one? Simply changing the usergroup to the miserable one forces the script to look for a genuine "banned" group.

Just started on installing my new board.

I finished installing this hack (made some language mods to it because my forum is dutch :P)

All works fine but I still have some requests:
- Is it possible that when a user is warned it can auto generate a post in a designated forum with the warning info in it (like what post is warned, number of points, reason and stuff?
- Is it possible that when you ban a user he/she gets a mail from the board and not only the message when he/she tries to log on to the board?

On my old forum (vb3.0.7) I used the advanced warning hack. It didnt look as good as this one but had those functions and I use them freqeuntly. Therefor my requests.

To those complaining about removing warnings but still having the user come up banned, I found the quick as hell fix after reading through all of the posts here trying to find an answer. Look in warn.php and find the following:

if ($Warn['w_adjust'] == 'minus')
{
$Warn['inferno_warn_level'] += $Warn['w_amount'];
}

replace with:

if ($Warn['w_adjust'] == 'minus')
{
$Warn['inferno_warn_level'] -= $Warn['w_amount'];
}

Save, reupload if needed. May need to go to Inferno Warning System in vB's drop down menu so it reloads. One site I had it on needed that last step, the other didn't.

On our forums, we use a the plugin that sends reported posts to a forum. As a result, all potential warnings are more of a group decision than an individual action. Would it be possible to set up this extension so that when a warning is given out, instead of saying which user gave the warning, it is issued by 'Administrative Staff' or something like that?

Another idea for an addition - I'd like a deal set up so that whenever a warning is issued, a post is made in a thread that gives the details of the warning... User, warning level, reason, etc.

I could probably figure this one out on my own, but I think it would be a nifty addition to this mod.

Hi,

Truly Great Mod!!!! a question which I didn't see answer for and hope i didn't just miss it.

Would it be possible to add a summary/stats page into this mod that would show admins/mods who's currently being warned/banned??? I think that would be extremely useful...

Thanks Again

Jeff

I agree!

When sending a PM though the warning system, it does not save a copy to my "Sent Items" box or appear to be documented anywhere I can find.

Is there a way to have it documented somehow?

Thanks!

This warning system is awesome and have been using since almost day one of the hack!

I would like another usergroup to be able to view all warnings that are not moderators.
Is this possible?

Thanks!

Click on the % right before the warning bars.

If you have it set to allow for deletion, a link will be available in that log.

I just upgraded to 1.3 and wanted to customize the warn_user template but now I cannot find it in my style? Is it possible that my style is not showing this? warn_user is the correct template right?

Thanks in advance!!!

This would be even better if we could create warning types (i.e. spam, abusive post) with specific warning points and force moderators to use those (like AWS) rather than enter their own warn amounts.

Sorry but I just noticed that my forum specific mods can warn/ban anywhere. This is a problem because I don't consider them real mods (they are like rent-a-mods) and are used only to move delete posts when necessary.

Is that normal? How can I fix it?

Also how can I make the warning level visible to all users?

I have this saved (was posted in this thread sometime ago):

With this insatalled, now on my forums only admins can see the warning leve indicator in each post. And users only see if they have been issued a warning.

When I added this my users went nuts - had no clue what it was and those with 0% thought they were in trouble.

I made a slight modification:

if ($Current == 0 && $user['userid'] == $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']) {
return 'No warnings.';
}

in the functions_warnings.php script above the return so that it would display No warnings to the user if they had a 0% score. This seems to have cut down on the panic.

Yes, because this only appears to the user themselves; not to the moderators who would warn that user. It's to avoid a 0% display which is confusing to my users.

I put it in the first function in functions_warning.php:

if ($Empty > 0)
{
for ($e = 0; $e < $Empty; $e++)
{
$Bits[] = bit_builder();
}
}

if ($Current == 0 && $user['userid'] == $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']) {
return 'No warnings.';
}

If you use the "PM the warned user" features of the Inferno Warning System, you might want to consider modifying warn.php to save the sent PM in the "sent Items" folder of the staff member that warned the user.

in warn.php, find this code:

if (!empty($Warning['pm']['title']) && !empty($Warning['pm']['message']))
{
$pmdm =& datamanager_init('PM', $vbulletin, ERRTYPE_ARRAY);
$pmdm->set('fromuserid', $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']);
$pmdm->set('fromusername', $vbulletin->userinfo['username']);
$pmdm->set('title', $Warning['pm']['title']);
$pmdm->set('message', $Warning['pm']['message']);
$pmdm->set_recipients($UserData['username'], $null);
$pmdm->set('dateline', TIMENOW);

And add this line at the end:

$pmdm->set_info('savecopy', true); // MODIFICATION

Final code should look like:

if (!empty($Warning['pm']['title']) && !empty($Warning['pm']['message']))
{
$pmdm =& datamanager_init('PM', $vbulletin, ERRTYPE_ARRAY);
$pmdm->set('fromuserid', $vbulletin->userinfo['userid']);
$pmdm->set('fromusername', $vbulletin->userinfo['username']);
$pmdm->set('title', $Warning['pm']['title']);
$pmdm->set('message', $Warning['pm']['message']);
$pmdm->set_recipients($UserData['username'], $null);
$pmdm->set('dateline', TIMENOW);
$pmdm->set_info('savecopy', true); // MODIFICATION

Thats all there is to it. Hopefully this can become the default behaviour in future releases (/nudge /nudge)

I have certain members who have blogs, but they aren't apart of the main staff, so they aren't real moderators. Because they mod their own blog though, they have access to the warning system. What can be done to limit access to just the main staff?

To those complaining about removing warnings but still having the user come up banned, I found the quick as hell fix after reading through all of the posts here trying to find an answer. Look in warn.php and find the following:

if ($Warn['w_adjust'] == 'minus')
{
$Warn['inferno_warn_level'] += $Warn['w_amount'];
}

replace with:

if ($Warn['w_adjust'] == 'minus')
{
$Warn['inferno_warn_level'] -= $Warn['w_amount'];
}

Save, reupload if needed. May need to go to Inferno Warning System in vB's drop down menu so it reloads. One site I had it on needed that last step, the other didn't.

cant find that code in warn.php file, all i can see is this...

if ($Warn['w_adjust'] == 'plus')
{
$Warn['inferno_warn_level'] -= $Warn['w_amount'];
}
else
{
$Warn['inferno_warn_level'] += $Warn['w_amount'];
}

You can delete it from the user profile, click to see warn log, click the delete warning link !

Yes, I stumbled across the same problem. How come no one has noticed this up until now. Our threshhold is 30 points and after a mod increased the points by 15 and afterwards wanted to decrease by 15 points (because he made a mistake), we ended up with a guy who got banned because the hack didn't substract but actually added the point up :(

//EDIT: I just tried to modify the hack (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=929944&postcount=366), but it seems that the autoban function isn't working as intended. I just disabled it and this solved my problem for now. But it's not that sexy without autoban anymore :-/

That's what is being mentioned above... people are saying that if you add 5, then subtract 5, it is seeing the subtract as an add...

So for example, if you added 3, subtracted 3, then added 4... The rank should be 4, but the program will think it's 10 and ban the user :o

The other admin on my site found that weird bug:
If you decrease a user's warning level and the sum of his current warning level plus the amount that you are going to substract from it add up to more than the max level, the user gets banned, even though he shouldn't.
Example:
A user has 70%. You substract 40% from his warning level and instead of just having 30% afterwards, the user becomes banned and his warning level is 30% as it should.
I have no time to look at the code so I just report it in case someone can solve it (perhaps you ZT? :))

Is there a way to add some Quotation marks or something to make it look different than being a simple edit? I mean, when you enter the modifier notice, it is added to the original warned post at the very top, but with any kind of edition or diference from the original text. Do I make myself clear?

When I ban a user it says ther are Perminantly Banned but puts them in the (COPPA) Users Awaiting Moderation (id:4).

I have set the banned usergroup to 8 as standard but it dont work.

I have to move them to the banned usergroup via the ban user option in VB and then there status changes from perminently banned to banned.

Whats going on?

Any ideas?

Haven't installed it yet, but what a great feature!. Thank You ZT.
It looks much less complicated to install then another one found here.

Edited to remove Coder solicitation, as I have just found GNDI's user guide.
Thank You too GNDI.
Edit #2 I was mistaken.... I thought GNDI's aboved placed link was to an installation guide of his making. It is another of ZT's install instructions.... sry for all the confusion (it's what I seem to do these days, when dealing with mods/installs/eating/walking...ect)

Great stuff. I changed the way the MEMBERINFO looks. Moved the warning to it's own fieldset (conditional) in the Forum Info.

In MEMBERINFO, Find:
<td><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=process&amp;showposts=0&amp;starteronly=1&amp;exactname=1&amp;s earchuser=$userinfo[urlusername]" rel="nofollow"><phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[find_all_threads_started_by_x]</phrase></a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</fieldset>

Add Under:
<if condition="$show['warning']">
<fieldset class="fieldset">
<legend>Warning Level</legend>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="$stylevar[formspacer]" border="0">
<tr>
<td>
$userinfo[warning]
</td></tr>
</table>

Thank you for this hack. Installed. But I have a question:

User has 9 points that have an expiration period of 1 week. I give him 3 more permanent points. As a result, he'll be banned. However, total number of points will not go above 10. So, what will happen after 1 week, when expiration date for those 9 points comes? Will all 3 permanent points remain, or only 1 that was needed to reach maximum of 10 points?

Here is the auto-ban-fix f?r 3.6.x boards:

In file WARN.PHP search for this:

foreach ($vbulletin->usergroupcache AS $usergroupid => $usergroup)
{
if ($usergroup['genericoptions'] & $vbulletin->bf_ugp_genericoptions['isbannedgroup'])
{
if ($vbulletin->options['warn_ban_usergroup'] == $usergroupid)
{
$Found = $usergroupid;
}

$Temp = $usergroupid;
}
}

Replace all lines above with one line:

$Found=$vbulletin->options['warn_ban_usergroup'];

This removes the autosearch-for-ban-group feature that was failing in 3.6.x boards,

Also make sure that you have the set the correct Banned Usergroup-ID in AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> Inferno Warning Options.

Is there an edit to the code which will remove the rights of moderators, so only admins and super mods can view and issue warnings?

Im guessing its something to do with:

if ($_GET['do'] == 'removewarning')
{
if (!can_moderate() || !$vbulletin->options['can_del_warn'])
{
print_no_permission();
}

if (!$Warn = $DB->query_first("select w.*, u.* from " . TABLE_PREFIX . "warnlog w left join " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user u on(u.userid = w.w_user) where w.wid = '" . intval($_GET['log']) . "'"))

which is located in the warn.php

Any idea how this can be altered to put in the Admin + Supermod usergroup?

(If you search "can_moderate) in the warn.php you will notice that relates to the view/warn and delete.

Everything works fine, EXCEPT it just refuses to auto ban people when the warning limit is reached.
Banned usergroup is set correctly in admincp

I can't beleive I'm the first to ask that it be visible to all users. The less smart people are complaining like crazy because they think its only them that has a warning meter.

Same problem. I'd like everyone to be able to see everyone elses warning meter, but only mods and admin to be able to use the (+) and (-) and add warning notes. the VBulletin Options don't allow certain user groups to be able to see the mod and not see the mod, only certain user groups to be able to use the mod and not use the mod.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Ok, I've seen alot of posts asking "How do I get all members to be able to see each other's warning bar?"

Well, here is a "hacky" quick fix that will do just that:

Go to Admin Control Panel ( ACP ) -> Plugins -> Look for "Warn Display [Post Bit]" ->

And just replace that whole thing with this:

global $vbulletin;

if ($post['postid'])
{
require_once(DIR . '/includes/functions_warning.php');
$show['warning'] = true;
$post['warning'] = construct_warning_display($post, can_moderate($forum['forumid']));

}

if ($post['postid'] && (can_moderate($forum['forumid']) || ($vbulletin->userinfo['userid'] == $post['userid'] && $vbulletin->options['warn_allow_view'])))
{
require_once(DIR . '/includes/functions_warning.php');
$show['warning'] = true;
$post['warning'] = construct_warning_display($post, can_moderate($forum['forumid']));
}

My little contribution to everyone's anguish.

Save and enjoy.
