Doing this would help massively with integrating vb into what will be a 100% Strict site. But will it cause any problems for the board?
I know vb is transitional and that you can change the doctype in the stylevars, but will it adversely after how any pages display as far as anyone is aware?
(obviously I could try it and see, but that's a lot of pages to check and I thought someone might know ;) )

Thanks, that's interesting but I think you misunderstand me.
I don't want (well, don't have the time unfortunately) to re-write the tabled portions of vbulletin. I literally just want to change the doctype to strict, even if that results in the forum itself being non-compliant, as the page header which is common to other pages on the site relies on this doctype to make browsers display it correctly.
Our style will mainly be only color changes to the default template and will still be transitional. So I was wondering if doing this to the existing vbulletin leaving its current code intact would cause any problems in terms of how the forum displays.

changing it to strict caused a few problems on an earlier version, i'm not sure about this version.
