I'm planning on reworking the whole thing to work with professional wrestling, which means deleting all the cards and making whole new ones. My question is... when a pack is given out, are the cards completely random, or does it specifically take a certain percentage/odds of getting each level card? Lets say I just have 50 Level 1 cards and 50 Level 9 cards in my database - when someone buys a pack, are there odds that say 1 out of X times they'll receive a Level 9 card, or does it just give them 10 cards completely at random (expected five Level 1 and five Level 9 cards in the pack)?

right now the hack will use a progressively rarer appearance rate as it gets to higher levels, but i think it will error if there are no cards at a particular level (because its hard coded). the new version has definable card packs :)

Oh, i definitely plan to have cards of every level, that was just for example's sake. I just wanted to be sure that if I had more cards of each level that it wouldn't affect the odds of them appearing in a pack.

When the new version comes out, will it be easy to transfer everything over, or will I have to start from scratch?

A few more questions...

1) How do I give out UC cards? I assume it's something in phpMyAdmin since there's no option for it in the AdminCP.
2) The card catalog (both overall and your own cards) are displayed in order in which they were added to the database; in my case, cards were not added in order of strength so the list is random and kind of confusing. Is there any way to organize the catalog by card level (level 10's at the top, 1's at the bottom of the page)?
3) Is there a way to delete pending match challenges via phpMyAdmin? Since I'm using 3.6 and the updated version provided by someone else, there's a MySQL error when you try and do a lot of match/trade editing or deletion in the AdminCP. Also, does the hack automatically remove a pending match if the challenge is not accepted within a certain timeframe?
4) When selling back cards, the error "
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/*********/public_html/pwdiscussion/triad_cards.php(245) : eval()'d code on line 1" is received. This didn't happen at first, it only started happening within the last day and I haven't touched any of the files or anything...

it will be for vb3.6.* I plan for it to be ready by mid-june if not sooner.

UC cards were an afterthought, and I dont plan to include them in the new version. Maybe as an addon. We will be offering deck building and purchasing systems though, should anyone want decks outside of the classic default. more on this later.

Deleting matches via PHPMyAdmin is not recommended, because there are cards which need to be returned to their owners as well. Any SQL errors are from the porter of the current 3.6 version. The new version will have expiry times for most actions, including making a move during a match.

I am not aiming for the new version to allow conversion with the old version, but I may look into it as an addon at a later point.

not exactly. i will also be releasing a points script for vb3.7.* which will be automatically integrated with Triad³, although it will still maintain the global integration ability with whatever third party points system you may have (pretty much exactly like it did before, with a little bit of extension). But it wont come bundled with one, no.

we have forum setup for Triad3 on our site, From screenshots I've seen, its looking really good, Dark is working on an IBP addon triad is coming down the pipe but is still quite a bit of programming, neither of us have forgotten you guys.

:) you guys are totally not forgotten, Triad? is my baby hack and i wouldnt want to release it until it is everything that i have envisioned it to be :) I am trying to boost my integrity as well as earn something on the side as these things take time. http://www.vbcredits.com will have Triad? installed as it is finished.

Also, are any of you good designers? Ive been looking for a decent set of NEW ff8 cards, and like 3 people have vanished about a quarter through making them. IF you get me a set you will forever be immortalized (and linked to!) in every triple triad installation that uses them (which presumably is a lot considering they will become the new default deck)

We posted some teaser shots of the new triad3, till we're ready for release. Dark and I have a lot planned for this mod, however we're trying to get vbcredits v1.4 out first, then we'll see about finishing this. :D as we need vbc done first for triad3...

there is a 3.5 port in this thread. it can be installed on 3.6, and i will not help with use of the port, sorry

the 3.6 version is called Triad³, and its going to be a 100% rewrite, the only things that will remain is the board will still be 9 spaces. everything else - totally new. which is why i dont want to make a true patch to 3.6, because it will pale in comparison to Triad³, and I dont want it to have to compete with its comparably weak predecessor

Feel free to use the port I made however you need or want. I really didn't change much more then fixing some of the variables and a few other things. :)

I haven't utilized it for a long time. I didn't carry it over when I upgraded to 3.6 and my hands are rather full with the email integration mod and a few other things.

If you've given up on the project for the time being I understand, but the only reason I didn't install a port before was because I was expecting a new version and I didn't want to have to install it twice. If the port of the old hack is the best we can do for now, I'm ok with that, I just want to know :(

actually, i have an official 3.6/7 port almost done :-p only took a couple hours, but fixing up a bug before release tonight/tomorrow. you can see it installed on vbcredits.com (stadium disabled until bug fixed, sorry)

if you happen to have old tables still on your server, it shouldnt delete them, so "upgrading" would be a matter over overwrites and stuff.

if you are using the 3.5 port, im not sure if anything structurally was changed, so cant vouch for compatibility there. at least not immediately.

again, simply a port, nothing new added at all. nothing you would notice of course. this is NOT Triad? (http://www.vbcredits.com/projects/triad3/index.php) whatsoever, in fact i specifically restrained myself from updating the code in any way outside of changing function names etc to work with 3.6/7 :-p
