If you want the FlashChat admin area to be accessable from within yor ACP, just upload this file to your ./includes/xml folder.

Ok at the risk of experiencing the wrath of those more knowledgeable than me....
I didn't have flashcat, but have bought it and copied it to my server.
All seems to have gone well.
Have downloaded this mod..and amended the en.php and uploaded the vbulletin35CMS.php
I then ran install on the flashchat - selected vb3.5 all seems to have gone well.
I then uploaded the product, and it did so successfully.
But.. what happens now?
The instructions don't reference any template edits, so where is the link to it for the users - I can add one in the nav bar, but assumed the xml would take care of it. Is the link to the start of the flashchat - http://ww.../chat/flashchat.php ?
Is the admin of it through the admincp or is it separate (.chat/admin.php?)
Where is the 'who's online' plug-in which is part of this hack shown?
I have read through a number of these posts as much as I can understand, and have seen mentioned that I need to enter my VB licence number in the CMS file.. can anyone tell me where, or indeed why - as the if I go directly to flaschat, it logs me in directly so is integrating correctly.
If anyone can help with these, and apologies If I am being obtuse, just can't work them out.
Thanks
Paul M

thank youWell I did warn you I had no ability to test it (as I was at work). There was a missing semi-colon which has been fixed, and it works fine on my test site now. :)

Make sure you upload the working version to the right place.
There is no requirement to enter your vb licence number, that was removed ages ago.
You have to add the link manually to your navbar (yes, link to flashchat.php).

Ermm were do i allow these, or what URL do i put in, because mydomain.com/chat doesnt work :s.. i have to click login using blah blah..vB 3.5 integration allows ;
* Authorised members to be automatically logged in.
* All non authorised members are locked out (both are based on usergroup membership).
* If enabled, the users location is now displayed in WOL (use the plugin to avoid "Unknown Location").
* The CMS file no longer requires your vb licence code to be entered.
* Automatic login now works even if a member has not ticked "remember me".
Paul M

You don't 'allow' them, they are automatic if it's installed correctly.

The vbulletin35CMS.php was downloaded from the hack - should I upload a new one, and what will that address?

....as a postscript, I uploaded the Who-is-chatting.xml product and that has added the the who's online in chat table.
should i amend anything in the original flashchat installation, or with the cms file, or will everything be fine?

If your chat is working then don't worry about the CMS file - there was a broken version uploaded for a few hours.
You don't need to change anything for the WIC hack.

Ok first of all nice script thx Tufat you should charge more:)
Now second to Paul just how can you call this Flashchat Integration for vB 3.5 all the work was done by Tufat and you haven't even integrated to vb otherwise the page would show header navbar and footer
so tell me what did you actually contribute to this hack?
Holidazed
03-13-2006, 03:05 PM
Too true. I would love to see this flashchat embedded into my site look and feel. The proper header and footer would be awesome.

I am sorry if everyones taken it the wrong way I wasn't meaning to be rude in any way.
I was just asking as the script is writen by Tufat what did paul contribute its a simple question and there is no rudeness meant by it.
intergration for a script like this that already works with vb would mean header etc not just a page none of your members can get back to your forums from.
Sorry if I offended anyone
Paul M
03-13-2006, 09:24 PM
Perhaps you should try reading the notes instead of shooting your mouth off.
The latest versions of Flashchat (i.e. 4.4.1 and above) now include my integration as part of the standard Tufat supplied files ..
Flashchat only "already works with vb" becuase of the vbulletin35CMS.php integration file that I wrote (and maintain, on behalf of Tufat). You will also find several other bits of my code embedded in the flashchat files, since Tufat has included them over time. The vb3.0 integration file is also maintained by me.
As for headers & footers, they have absolutely nothing to do with integration whatsoever. What planet are you on ?
For the record, you did not just ask a simple question, your exact words were "all the work was done by Tufat and you haven't even integrated to vb"
Trolls do not offend me, but ignorance makes me angry.

Paul M, thank you for the integration. I did not know it was you who did that. I did not see any reference on Tufat's website giving you credit for it.
As for the headers and footers, it is not a manditory thing, but I would love it if I could force flashchat to work inside my existing site navigation.

Guys,
I just installed it and everything seems to work fine. A couple of questions:
1. Is there anyway I can get a direct link to /chat/admin.php from the VB admin CP? I am currently typing it in manually in the IE address bar.
2. How can I find what usergroup number my custom user group is?
3. I can't seem to find this within Admin CP -> "Go to vBulletin settings and set the groups that are allowed to access the FlashChat vB Page under FlashChat vB Page Settings." Did I install something wrongly? I can't seem to find any FlashChat vB Page settings, or is he referring to /chat/admin.php?
Thanks.

Hi,
I have this hack working and it only allows my paying members into the chat. I was thinking of allowing my non paying members into the chat this weekend.
It's been so long since I installed this, I can't remember. Is there away in the admincp, to change the permission settings?

I cannot for the life of me find where to change the FlashChat title. I have looked through phrases, templates, xml's, .php's, from this hack and noppids page integration hack and can't find it. I have found instances in the xml but it did not change on the site even after editing the xml, uninstalling the old one, and installing the edited one. LOL

1. Import/reimport the product.
2. Replace your copy of the vbulletin35CMS.php with the latest one. Remember to re-edit the usergroup access section if you have altered this for custom usergroups.

You don't really need to do anything - assuming you have flashchat installed correctly, it just works - by default it uses avatars - you can change that to profile pictures in the CMS file (bearing in mind that it currently only supports avatars/profile pics that are stored in the databse, not in the file system).

Like the notes say ;
The CMS file assumes that you are installing Flashchat in your forum root folder - this is the same folder as your usercp.php file and includes folder. Installation will fail if you do not do this.

Any chance of your previously mentioned "beta" for socket server auto-login being released or was it just never workable? The socket server performance is awesome but the no auto is kind of annoying.

Any chance of your previously mentioned "beta" for socket server auto-login being released or was it just never workable? The socket server performance is awesome but the no auto is kind of annoying. It worked (works) pretty well, but it's not a system I would prefer to release publically. In fact I haven't done any work on it for many months now - the Socket Server itself is reported to have a few bugs still, and a better system of auto login would really need to be looked at before any public release. However, if you drop me a PM I'll see if I can find an old copy - note that it will be missing many of the recent changes (inc the security fix).
Ghettellectual
04-17-2006, 05:08 PM
Ah, if it's prior to the security fix, then I'll just be patient and wait for any eventual stable release. It's not a big deal to have my users log in... it'll make them hardy! Plus as you said, the socket server is a tad buggy, not to mention it's a pain to re-enable everytime the server needs to be rebooted.
Thanks for your work on this, by the way, the integration is very well done!

Technically I installed Flashchat and it worked - But when I did the import of this hack's xml file in the product manager all I got was a blank page when I tried to enter chat. I uninstalled it and Flashchat works again.
Any idea(s) why that would happen?
What does the Flashchat-vb-integration.xml file add / do?

Any idea(s) why that would happen?
What does the Flashchat-vb-integration.xml file add / do?Technically there is no connection between the product and logging into Flashchat. The plugins are (as it says in the notes) purely to make the WOL display properly (i.e. show you are in Flashchat as opposed to 'Unknown Location'.

OK - I understand.
I have one other question. I admit I haven't read all 55 pages here... Some of my members are entering the chat room without a problem. Has anyone else experienced this condition?

Support:
Please check any file edits carefully, and make sure you have uploaded any edited files to the correct location - the vast majority of problems reported are due to an error made in editing [or uploading] a file. If you are still stuck and want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an admin user, and ftp access details, without these I cannot help you. I will then look as soon as I have time

Hi @all
Hello Paul M, thx a lot for your great work.
My problem is the customer live support. I've set the liveSupportMode to true.
After entering chat/flashchat.php the login screen appears. I entered a username without a password, but the login screen appears again. I should enter a valid username and password.
What's wrong?
Autologin with registered users in accordingly usergroups works perfect.

At the moment it just replicates the path for the link text - but I suppose I could add a new phrase that overrides that if set. I'll think about it if I have time - it's not a high priority though.

Thanks Paul. Having used VbChat in the past, that is how it was coded for that module, and it made the WOL location a little cleaner, more asthetically appealing. If you are able to add that, it would add a nice little touch. :)

It's 100% relevant because I experienced a sluggish system, my testers experienced a sluggish system, my users experienced a sluggish system and im sure others who have tried this have experienced a sluggish system too.
With that being said, i'm sure these members went to something else and could probably point me in the right direction.
Thanks
I'm having this probelm too. When I integrate the chat room with vBulletin, a strange lag starts to happen after you've been in the chat room for a while. It's not apparent at first, but over time it slowly builds up and gets more severe.
If I use the flashchat as a standalone item, I don't experience this problem. Perhapse it's not necessarily a problem with the hack, but maybe a problem with the Flashchat software?
Anyone else experiencing this? I did see a post about this over on the Tufat site, but it doesn't seem to be resolved yet.

How long is 'a while'?
Zombie-F

How long is 'a while'?
10 - 15 mins. I was using Flashchat 4.3.2 up until yesterday and didn't have this lagging problem with that version... which is why I'm starting to think maybe it's more a problem with the Flashchat software and maybe not with this integration hack.

EasyTarget

well you can do it before or after, but you won't be able to use the chat program if you haven't installed it yet. This hack integrates flashchat into vbulletin, it isn't the chat program itself.

i understant that, that only hack that i have installed for the flash chat is Flashchat Integration for vB 3.5 , so now just follow your instructions and that's it?

Hi.. all working... checked & verified...great stuff!... now the bad bit... the really annoying arse of a bit... the bit that makes you wanna grind your teeth and get nasty with cute fluffy things.... that is : why did you leave the install instructions at step 5?... its like.... everything is installed... product uploaded, usergroups checked and.........? - Step 6...wheres that?... have i missed something?... let me clarify... now i assume the plugin is for WOL locations... i thought it may... like.... erm.... place a link somewhere on my forum home template or navbar...something like an actual link to the flashchat.php? - i got a nice link for the ACP to the FC admin... brilliant.... so whats missing?... i've searched high & low on my forums for a 'Chat' or a 'Chatroom' link.....is it in the footer? NO... the navbar? NO... the header maybe...? NO! - is there anything in your instructions about placing a link to the script? NO... what about the first or second post of this thread? no...?... come on... you gotta be joking... i assume somewhere in this 58 pages there is some info...but anything i search for brings in a huge amount of threads... when it should have been there in the first place...
yes i do know how to insert a link to this in the navbar...but thats not the point... i suppose this mod makes the FC screen appear in some nice template with the forum header and footer right?... any info? noooooo... ok i'll have a look again... but mary munkey jesus... im tripping or you need to sort that simple thing out dude really.... sorry for sounding an arse... but it's bloody annoying...

I have one question and one problem.
I'm looking at hosting a pretty large chat session and before I go to far into it I wanted to get an idea of how many users can flash chat support at once. I seem to remember reading somewhere about ppl complaining that when they get more than 20 folks it crashes. I may be mistaken here but wanted to ask anyway.
Second is I'm having a problem moderating folks in chat that have a space in their login name. Do I have to use the %20 when typing their name if it has a space or is this easily resolvable another way?
Paul M

Both those questions are related to Flashchat, not vb integration or this hack, you need to visit the Tufat forums. :)

It's a long while since I looked at noppids hack, but afaik, you don't need what's left of this now to use it - the main integration is now part of what flashchat supplies - what's left here now is just a slightly newer CMS file and the WOL plugin.

Did you read the main post ?
vB 3.5 integration allows ;

Is it possible to show at the top of the forum if/which members are currently in the flash chat room?
Can the user Location be added in Flash chat?
For instance in the Flash Chat Room's users list, e.g:

username2 (Germany)
username3 (NYC)
Second, can the user location be displayed just below the user avatar on using the PM feature in Flash chat?

I installed this and it works great - top work Paul. But I can't seem to find the code and instructions to add a link on my navbar to flashchat. I checked the flashchat integration instructions but they seem to be out of date, and will only work with vB 3.0.
Does anyone have the code and instructions on where to stick it so there is a link from the navbar?
Thanks a bunch in advance.

I've been reading for over an hour and I cannot find out how the hell I can embed the flashchat into my forum site design. I saw there was some mod made by a guy named "noppid" but when I try to visit the mod thread, it says I don't have permission to access, WTF!!!!
It's not worth using if I can't embed the damn thing into my site's design.
I'm not upgrading to 3.6 either anytime soon. I'm using 3.5.4. why can't i access that damn thread of noppids? It appears as though it was deleted? if it was, I have one question.. WHY. there are still people obviously like me who use 3.5.4 and want flashchat integrated into their forum design.

Yes, noppids thread was deleted (by his request) so I suggest you take it up with him.

I worked with him and we got it working, thanks...
Now unfortunately I'm experiencing a weird problem where the users aren't being logged out of the chat when they leave :\ Like right now there's only 2 people really in the chat (according to the who's online script), but in flashchat it says there are 17, lol.
Any idea of how to fix this? I know a person had a similar issue but I think you helped them over PM so I don't know the fix...

Hello Paul
Fantastic mod, one of the best I've installed...
But giving me a slight problem.
Some users appear logged in even after a long period of inactivity (forever?), even if I reduce inactivity interval of auto-logout (now it is 30 mins), so, users have problems logging in after some time (used all of 10 logins-ip's) with error User with that username is already in the chat.
So, I use /kickout command, name by name... And again...
That's a major problem, a minor is, if this /kickout command could be added as a mouse-operation somehow... Now there is only ban.
Can you help me to resolve this please?
Thx in advance,
Nenad

That's a Flashchat issue. There are a number of things that can cause it - their support forums are linked in the main post at the top of this tread.

This is an excellent add on, I installed in on 3.6.5 and it works very well, thanks... Mike.

Is this supposed to make their vBulletin avatars show up in the chat as well? That doesn't seem to happen on my site...

Is there a way to not allow people with zero posts or certain usergroups to not to be able to use FlashChat?

Zero posts = No.
Usergroups = Yes - you set usergroup access by editing the vbulletin35CMS.php file.

Thanks. I dunno what I am doing wrong but I cant seem to find the usergroups listed on the cms file. Can you point me to where I make this edit? Thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question.

At the top of the file ......
// Usergroup Definitions
$users = '2' ; // Usergroups allowed standard access to chat.
$moderators = '5,7' ; // Usergroups allowed access as chat moderators.
$administrators = '6' ; // Usergroups allowed access as chat administrators.
$banned = '1,8' ; // Usergroups banned from accessing the chat at any time.

I have version 2.60, and Flashchat 4.5.7; I'm running vB 3.6.4. Everything works fine, but apparently the security issue wasn't fixed until 2.63.
Before I just give up and scrap the whole thing forever, could someone tell me if there's some way to apply the security patch without upgrading to Flashchat 4.7 or installing the Flashchat Integration for 3.6? Please? Pretty please?

Just replace your vbulletin35CMS.php file with the one in this zip file.

Thanks, I appreciate the answer! :)

(Er... can anyone tell me, do I just download the zip and import it in product manager? Or is this something trickier?)

It's a physical file you must upload via ftp, to replace the existing one on your server.
