Creating buttons for vB3

I'm close to making the jump to vB3 but want to use a button style simular to my current vB2 forum. Actually, the text-only ones in this forum are very close to what I envision using. My question is can I alter the vB3 default button sizes? Also, is the best way to tackle this chore just to download the default vB3 button set and open them in PhotoShop to alter?

Any recommendations/tips appreciated. :)

or simply rename your vb2 ones and upload to your vb3 folder perhaps ?
