I'm working on installing a Welcome Hack that requires some template modifications.

I was hoping to do modify the templates in a text editor so I could make sure I had a backup of the file, but can't find the actual template files.

Where are the template files stored? Specifically "forumhome", and how can I back this up before editing it?

I also need to add and edit some vB phrases. Where and how is this done? Do I have to use the AdminCP or can I do this by editing a file with a text editor?

Thanks in advance for your help.

BTW my board is vB 3.0.0 Gold

There are no template files, there all in the database.

Just copy and paste them into a *.txt file :)

Or make a script that can output the template contents and names to files from the database :)

I use Arachnophilia (http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/) as my editor and just paste the code into it and make my back ups that way. Or simply export the sytle when I am done with my code so I have a copy.

Dont forget there is an option to REVERT templates that have been edited anyway ;)

Or you can also view the original template.
