Is the GENERIC_SHELL template in vB3 used?

I've just spent some time playing around with RC4 trying to learn the template system so that when the full version is released, I'll be up to speed and able to release my new site ASAP.

I was looking at the GENERIC_SHELL template, and if it does what I think it does, then it would make my job a whole lot easier, so I spent some time editing it, making the changes I wanted, but after saving the template changes, my board remained the same..

What does it do? if anything?

That template is used in profile.php and usercp.php (basicly only in the user control panel), it contains the usercp side navigation block and some other misc things.

It's a shame it's not used more... it could solve a lot of my problems, but alas, i'll have to stick to using the header/footer templates.

Yea, but givin the template name, I can see it begin used more and more by the developers over time :)
