Getting welcome panel in categories

Can someone tell me how to go about hacking one of the Welcome Panel hacks into a category.

I have several links in my site that point to the categories instead of the main page. I would like to have the info in the welcome panel where they show up at instead of having to go to the main page to login etc.

Hmm, just copy the Welcome panel template into the Forum display templates, i think it would be the main Forum Display template, probably best placed above the Threadlist bits.

Just try it out, if not, i dont really know, and hacks in the welcome panel such as avatar etc, i dont have a clue about how you would transfer them.

I think the avatar part will have to be hacked into a file...but I don't know which files and where in them to do it.
