This has probably been asked and i know i sound stupid but.. what is the vbtemplates site made from...
It looks like some sort of hack or template mod... I run a php site but im tired of it and bought a vb a while back that i want to turn into my intire site... is this the place to find that.. or was it custom... im not really sure what to ask either... thanks for any help though...

The homepage? It looks like somesort of portal, try looking at vB.org
I think even firefly sells one, try contacting him through vb.org

The homepage is made from a portal, to get the exact portal you can contact FireFly. :)
For the forum, it's just modified templates and a few essential code hacks.

does this portal put a heavy strain on db connections since you are using it as you site... is it worth using or is it a bit much for a smaller site...
Depends on which you use, i recomend TECK's vBhome lite 3.5 myself, that thing is very well coded and only uses 11 - 14 qureies. heres a link to it.

i use php portals www.phpportals.com a bit hard to install, but it aint half bad

That isn't a portal to vB though, just seperate.
Acully its phpnuke intregrated into vB. and yes i Use v1.0 of vBhome, im upgrading to 3.5 when i luanch my new site.

i never could figure out how to install vbhome, didnt work, just got stupid errors.... wish someone would help me with it :P
