First of all, Hello, this is my first post here.

My problem:
Two weeks ago I did a clean install of vb2.2.8. As my forums' subject is a spanish singer and composer, I decided to translate the whole GUI to spanish.

Soon as I finished the translation -I tested every single template and everything was working perfectly- I came up with the idea of addind the vBPortal feature. Before proceding, I made a back up of the Db and the styles as well, 'just in case'.
The fact is that, to my astonishment, vbPortal ruined all the translation work overwriting every single template when I uploaded its style file.
----
Now I want to reset the styles/templates/whatever! to the translated state. I don't care about the posts, since they didn't reach the amount of 10. All I want is NOT to loose the translation which took me so much time.

I tried to upload my styles so they would, you know, overwrite the default templates, but it doesn't seem to work.

Could you please provide me with any help at all? I'm kindda desperate.

Thank you

Brad

You said you dont care about the post so you can do a DB restore.

Upload the backup to a folder on your ftp

http://www.vbulletin.com/manual/movingservers.html

do steps 3 and 4.

Anime-loo:
1. Thanks for your reply
2. I can't telnet, I'm using Tripod.Lycos (spain) free hosting, which only provides phpmyadmin and ftp.
Please... tell me there's something I can do.

If you still have a .style file of it i see no reason why you cannot upload it and overwtire, if you want you can send it to me via pm and ill see if i can get it working on my DEV board.

Sure, thanks a lot for your interest.
I might be wrong, but I think I can't attach files to PMs.

Perhaps I could upload it to my site and send you the link?
Your help is really great.

I had to reset the database after vbP's mess. I have a clean Db now... no vbP, just a clean 2.2.8 install

I tried to import the style both from my PC and from the 'local' and I get an OK message, yet the translated templates do not appear.

Ok... you mean that when you import the style file i gave you,

Please also tell me which options do you select when uploading the style.

Thanks a lot.

In the admin cp under Styles click Download/upload

in the new windows under Upload existing style set: (from your computer) Browse and select the style file you wish to upload. Set Overwrite existing style to the Default style. set Use style file even if it is for a different version of vBulletin to Yes, and hit the upload button.

And heres a screenshot of your style working on my forum under 2.2.8

BTW you will need to replace the vBulletin copyright in your footer template once everything is up and running, at minimum it sould read

If you want to have vbportal and your templates then install vbportal and upload it's template as a new one (not overwriting default template) and copy and paste all the changes that are in vbportal templates to your translated one.
It may sound hard but... it's really easy.... 10mins of work + translation.
