right this was the best place i could find to post this question ???

right i am using vbportal but i have this very bad problem that none of your styles work with vbportal (im very gr8ful for this site giving away so many cool templates)

is there anyway i can get your styles from the download area to work with vbportal .... there site need me to give them a donation but im only a student that needs every penny :(.

thats where phpnuke comes in i know its $50 but you have so many styles to share i feel it would be worthwhile to ask me mum and dad for a loan, so will phpnuke work with the styles you have to share ????

and i would also like to add this site is fantastic and a pleasure to use :) thanks for all the templates and styles you have to share

The styles for download here only work with vBulletin.. The only place i know of that makes styles for vBportal is phpportals.com.

It's not that hard to convert styles here to be used for vBPortal. It's also possible to convert styles from phpnuke to vBPortal too. Most styles for vBPortal can be downloaded from their site. Also, it only costs $20 for vBPortal, so it's cheap.

How about for vBindex? Is there any styles for that too? I really prefer that or the one used here. :)

Thanks for all the replys :)

i do understand that its cheap $20 but they have like 4 styles to choose from here there are vast styles that user's and the site have made :)

back to what Erwin said its not hard to transfer (modiefy) styles to work with vbportal that are created on here

is there a step by step guide as in what to edit ??? and what to add ????

thanks for all your help its driving me mad that you have like super templates here but they cause my site to go nutz :(

I'm pretty sure there is no guide to it, you'd just have to know like that.

right thats not a problem i have been hacking bb's for years im just not up 2 date with vbulletin (im gonna swear... i been using ubb for years but my site got far to busy and there flat file system caused me endless server problems and even got banned by my host's... but now i use vbulletin and im getting on much better with it now) all i need to know is where i can find a guide to the styles where i can learn how to modify both vbportal end and vbulletin

if anyone has any suggestions on where would be best for me to find such information it would be very helpful :)

thanks again for all the help

What?!?!? UBB?? ;) (j/k)

Anyway, there is not a step by step guide to converting styles, it is basically trial and error unless you know what you are doing right off. I have never used PHPNuke, but vBPortal is basically just editing the vbportal_header and vbportal_footer, nothing much more is needed unless you are editing it drasticly :).

Hey man, i know what its like. i used to be a avid ubb user myself. until my 6.05 got taken off line cause it was using to much of the cpu. You made the right move. vbulletin IMO is the best forum system you can buy, and the support is alot better then "other" forums ;)

Don't think you're the only one too. I went through the same downfall as AL did at that forum. Then I experianced it for myself. Flat files just aren't the way of the future. It's that simple. :)

For that size forum I see why it fell. That is huge, I wonder how much bandiwdth you burned a day. Just having an inactive UBB forum can still hurt your server a bit. :p

yeah when its busy its a bit of a muncher it will eat up bandwidth.

my friend is gonna host it on his dedicated server, so it should be fine soon :) but my hosting has not complained about it ??? YET LOL

i have sent you a pm anime-loo thanks for all your help everyone

did not want to start a whole new thread on this subject.

as i am well aware that anime-loo is a very important person on most vbulletin forums and sites so m8 i can understand how busy you are :) and thanks for the help you have gave me already.

but because you are so busy i will need a guide to work out how to change these .styles for myself if anyone can point me in a direction for a guide so i can learn to change these for myself please..... i will say i did try but the outcome was quite funny with bits of portal everywhere lol.

thanks again i thought it would be better to post on this than creating a new post where most questions are covered here :)

and the style i have been trying to convert from vbulletin to work with vbportal is the futuristic style in your database here

very strange i have not tested futureistic style cause i dont want to mess up my board again :(

i did not want to bother you to much, cause as i said in my posts b4 you do alot of work on many sites :)

or if you know of a style which is nice on the eyes and quite future looking... anything would be nice from the vb look :)

thanks anime-loo your a star

There really isn't a guide so to speak. And asking over at phpportals doesn't help unless you support them. They refuse to answer any questions (other then to tell you to search their forums) unless your a contributing member. But I've been tinkering around with converting styles over. I've managed to convert 2 styles over and I'll play with futuristic and see what I can do.

wow thanks bonnmac could i get a copy of the 2 you have already converted over with the gifs aswell please :)

i was starting to think that i would be doomed to the look of the vbulletin default :(

thanks very much for answering me and if you could get the futureistic style working that would be gr8.... im badly in need of a makeover (the forums not me... well i could do with jenny jones showing up maybe)

very excited :)
