ive seen it on here before in a downloadable txt file but i would just like to know what the html code is that you would put in ur category bg strip in the edit styles to have a gradient bg color:)

Exactly that, change the FFFFFF to whatever you want and urltoimage ;)

Make sure you keep the quotes just how they are there.
