View Full Version : Saving Databases
Which databases would I have to backup in order to save members accounts, or atleast save thei login and pw's s they can get back in.
Also, I was wondring which databases to back up in order to save posts. Its not as important as saving members but it would be nice if there was a way :]
Im converting somebody's forums into 2.2.6 but he doesnt want to lose his members thats a must, posts are good if its possible. Thank you :]

Just back up all of the vB Database is the easiest way.

Is he on a older verson of vBulletin or anthor forum software?.
Anyway. if it is vbulletin he can do a few things.
1. There is a backup tool in the admin cp. however if his database is large this tool could time out.
2. He can do a dump via telnet and get a full backup.
anyway theres a guide to do this over at vBulletin.com

Depends on how large it is, if it is <1MB, then phpMyAdmin, if it is >1MB (larger than), then you would need to use SSH.
sorry i deleted the post :[ i got it to go, theres tunz of problems now tho. After backing up the databases, my install of 2.2.6 went doen to 2.0.1 again, I can't login with my login password anymore and some templates have changed. Anybody know why? All I want is the list of members.

when I upgraded from 2.2.7 to 2.2.8 i didn't need to do any backing up....
I just used the upgradeXX.php (fill XX with a number >_>)
I'm guessing I did something different though...

You're supposed to backup when upgrading says Jelsoft but I never do. Besides if one of their upgrade scripts trashed my forums I'd be p***ed anyway.
