I have been a proud administrator of vB for about 6 months now and I completely love what it can do. I go back a very long ways, having started with and customizing PCBoard, RBBS, etc. Then came the internet with Matt's script, then InfoPop, and then finally vB. I'll never recommend anything else again!

I am a website developer that is fluent in HTML. I'm learning PHP at a steady pace. But now for my question:

How do you BEGIN creating a complete remake of the style? Like this site... does one start by creating a page as HTML, then drop in the vB vars?

I can see that each php script does what it is supposed to do - modular programming (I started with basic, dBase, Clipper(!), vB, some C,) and get the concept. But where do I start?????

It depends. i like to code right in the template editor, for more advanced stuff and if you need it you can code a demo in a wysiwyg then convert all the vars and stuff as needed. its really a "whatever you like doing" kind of thing

Well, all the templates can be found in the Admin Control Panel. Most people start with either the Forum Home template or the posbit and build from there.

Like any other web project, once you have a design in mind, then it's just a matter of applying the style.
