User Style in Profile, Post Status, and as Variable

I was just wondering how exactly to grab the name of the style that the user is viewing the page with.
Our forum has a working drop down box with the various styles, and starts on the style currently selected by the user, using forumhome_dropdownbits...
But none of the variables within that template work- $thisstyle[title] or anything similar.
So, I'm wondering how I can pull the name of the style that the user is viewing the forum on for inclusion in the user's profile, or under their avatar, as I've seen on some sites. Any suggestions?

I haven't heard of a template-only mod for this (which doesn't mean it doesn't exist). I've only done the 'What styles are we using?" hack at vb.org for this. :)
