Send AOL Instant Message from WebSite?

I am looking for a script that functions the same way that vbulletin does with AOL Instant Messanger. When a user clicks a link, it either opens a new Instant Message window to user "bob" or if they are not logged on, starts AIM up. Is there a script like the one VBulletin uses or am I out of luck?
