Having trouble getting avatar uploads working

I'm using vb 2.3.5 on a test board. Trying to get upload avatars working but having no luck (website or standard uploads).

With the website uploads it says its not a valid jpeg or gif file

with the standard computer uploads it displays this error

Can anyone help?
Sounds like your server is running in safemode... you should check with your host and if this is so you should setup the safemode options in vBulletin

Got the problem fixed thanks anyways.

My host was not running in safe mode but i had it enabled. After some messing around with the settings i got the computer uploads fixed. No luck on the www uploads but i didn't really care, i just disabled them.
