This means that your MySQL get's a timeout writing to the database, or that the MySQL process simply crashes somehow.

Will try to find some more info for you on this.

Are you on a dedicated host or a shared server?

Ok, let's put it different, is this server only for you, or is it shared with other people?

Do you have SSH/telnet access to it? Some kind of Server Control Panel?

Where are you hosted?

Well anyway if you don't have access to the server with SSH/telnet or cPanel/Plesk, then i guess it is up to your host to help you out.

Open a support ticket with your host, explain what is your problem, show them the link to that mysql page if needed, and ask them to raise "max_allowed_packet" for MySQL. That would be the thing i would do first to get this resolved.

You don't login to MySQL directly unless using SSH/telnet.

You will tell vB the username and pass in the config.php file.
You can also get into MySQL if you have some sort of Server Control Panel, but you never answered if you have access to any.

Well on a dedicated hoost you must have SSH/telnet access and some kind of server panel.

No offence, but my guess is that is happening because of a poor server setup. I suggest again that you open a support ticket at your host, unless you have someone on your admin team that is capable of changing and tuning the MySQL configuration, because my best guess is that the problem is there.
