As designer the template engine of the vBulletin is a piece of bull++++ because the hole time you have to copy & paste, can use an editor and so on. That is why I'm searching for a hack which allows to use flat files for the templates.
I saw there some codelines in the vBulletin source, but was not able to figure out how it works.
Greetings

I actually realy love the system and wouldn't have it any other way personaly.
The code works but not without some changes to it, and even then it just dumps them to files IIRC. It wont use them at leaast I don't think so.
Including all thoughs flat files could be insanely resource intensive rather than making calls to the datastore.

I love the system as well. I like the idea of being able to edit pages on my website without having to load anything other than my browser.
What is it you don't like about it?

I couldn't agree more, after using several different boards this is the easiest to modify templates without questions. No dealing with having to figure out what corresponds with what, we don't have to FTP and it's laid out in a nice easy to understand structure. I am doing more with templates since moving to VB than I ever have with any other board.

The system ist great, but in the moment I'm dealing with massive changes of the source and this is not possible by using the online version. At the end I should be a true valid XHTML which means less HTML.
I have been dealing with forums for a very long time. This change is only for development and will be later removed again.
