Thanks, i updated my main post to include not so much as a feature, but the fact that this system only uses 1 SQL Query, which i know a lot of people will be happy to know, since this may get a lot of useage on their forums :)

Nice but that seems more like a "Jukebox" than a radio itself, with it having specified songs .. the point of this modification is to actually listen to online radio stations :)
Also i have fixed the minor file name error :)

Make a backup of includes/functions_online.php before you begin!
In includes/functions__online.php find:
case 'bugs':
$userinfo['action'] = construct_phrase($vbphrase['viewing_x'], 'Bugs'); // Don't report 'bugs' as needing to be translated please :p
break;
Directly underneath add:
case 'vBRadio':
$userinfo['action'] = 'Listening to vBRadio';
$userinfo['where'] = "<a href=\"vBRadio.php?$session[sessionurl]\">vBRadio</a>";
break;
FIND:
case 'bugs.php':
$userinfo['activity'] = 'bugs';
break;
Underneath add:
case 'vBRadio.php':

break;
Save and upload!

I use the forums NAVBAR, but it initially did not open correctly, so I just hardcoded the path to vBRadio.php and now it works fine. Are you looking to add the drop-down list of stations? I was going to try to get it to work via the NAVBAR so you can choose a station from the drop-down menu and play it that way...

djjeffa- I have been able to create a module on the VBA homepage, and it works, but... The way ZT coded this hack, it makes more sense to just have a link to it so the radio opens a new window, because if you think about it, if you embed the radio into the VBA page, then if a member clicks a link to a forum thread or whatever, the radio will of course stop playing unless they right-click to open in a new window. If you want to set it up so they can select a station from the VBA page, and it opens the player up, then that isn't any better, because they either would have to return to the VBA page to select a new station or select one via the popup radio and that is exactly how it's setup anyway. It makes more sense to me to just use the radio window as ZT coded it. Then a member can navigate around the site while the radio plays in the background.
Do you follow what I am saying here?

The stations are in your database....The only "files" this uses is the vBRadio.php file (which is never altered by the use of the hack) and your RADIO template. When you add cats and stations, these are being written to the database table "RADIO"
What did you do prior to this problem you had? What file did you edit?

Never start a new hack without first backing up the file you are about to edit. Especially if you have installed other hacks and modified a file many times. I always create a copy of the file I am about to edit so I can easily get back to where I was if I fubar something.
Glad you got it working Jeff.

Hello..just installed, everything went ok...some questions:)
If i ever want to uninstall it(i dont want, i just ask!), i will undo whatever i did ok? But what with the "install_vbradio.php" i run...?
Or its another way?
Also, how can i edit the word VBRadio, from my navbar(to something like Radio!)...Just go to navbar template and change the word ?
Ps
Also, i dont know if u mentioned that before..but..how it works?:D
I mean, does it load my server and so my BW or it goes to the "net radio " itself server right a way?
Ps2
Something last:P
How can i prevent, my guests play with the radio? So only my registered users, can use it?
Thanks a lot again:)

id uses the bw of who ever is streaming th music
and maybe this will help
X must be replace with the usergroupid.
If you want to check for several groups
<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, x) or is_member_of($bbuserinfo, y) or is_member_of($bbuserinfo, z)">
your stuff here
</if>
You can also specify which groups are allowed to access radio.php (put this right after require global):
if (!is_member_of($bbuserinfo, x) and !is_member_of($bbuserinfo, y) and !is_member_of($bbuserinfo, z)) {
print_no_permission();

1st off GREAT MOD!!! My members love it! Is there anyway to show the buffering progress indicator when it's 1st connecting to a station? Alot of my members with slower connections don't know if it's connecting to a station, or if the station is down and they should try another.
Thanks

I want to do some extreme customization of the player controls. I want to create the look of an actual radio faceplate in the left table.
I have been playing with one of my styles and created a different look for the controls, because some of my members are getting confused as to how this works.
I created some simple GIFs for buttons just for now. When the MUTE button is pressed, the button turns red and says MUTED. This is just play/experiments right now but I think I can create a pretty cool looking radio player interface.
Here's a few screenshots of the experiments:

Sup Guys, this is a cool addition. I run my own station that alot of people enjoy. It is a Gaming Music Station for my site mogusland.com the stream url for windows media player is http://mogusland.servemp3.com:8000 or http://mogusland.servemp3.com:8000/listen.pls for other players.
If you guys want stats on this hack like what is found here: www.mogusland.com/radio.php then I could probably get it done.. but it might increase some page loading while it queries the stream... but not by much.

Quick question....
A member is having problems hearing or seeing anything from the radio. He's using Internet Explorer, runs the latest WMP and RP, and is able to view/listen movies when they're embedded into posts. I don't see how or why he'd be having these problems if he's able to normally load multimedia files using the same browser.
Any guesses?

For those that want a radio station, you can also use ours, it is up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and fully licensed:
Hot Music FM (Alternative Genre)
Broadband - http://stream.hotmusicfm.com:8000/listen.pls
Dialup - http://stream.hotmusicfm.com:8010/listen.pls
I am off to install this now. If anyone wants me to add thier station to our forum (KCTalk.com) please email me at admin[at]kctalk.com, I will be happy to add it with a link back to our site (or if it is good, just to have it on there :))

When you say pushing "play" do you mean the "play" link? because this confuses my members, that's why I re-coded my left table. Make sure you click the button difectly under the station select drop-down, not the one farther down a few lines. I changed mine to say "Click here to Activate"
See this post for a screenshot: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=577394&postcount=98
This hack works perfectly, as I have it installed on 2 busy forums and the members have long threads about how much they like this... The pre-installed stations do work but you should find/add your own anyway, those are just examples.

Could this be archieved: instead of a pop up, a link "Radio" in the vbulletin navbar, with a drop down showing the control panel with all the radio functions. Would be a great integration I think.

Just Bumping my question as it seems to have gotten buried in the thread, SVTBlackLight01 also has Firefox problems a few posts down from mine.
To clarify the stations connect and play in FF but it is just the Player Controls buttons that do not funtion and I have removed the <!-- --> commenting out of all related templates, and everything works in IE, so I suppose it is how FF handles the Javascript, but am not that familiar with it to sort the problem out.
If anyone can solve this, it would be great.

this truly is a great hack, but i'm having just a couple of minor problems.
The first is I'd like to make the title of the popup window show with the URL of my forum, just the forum title and vBRadio title. For some reason, no matter what I do to the Radio Template, I can't get rid of the URL preceding everything in the title of the popup. Can this be fixed?
Also, for some reason, I can't play winamp streams. Anything from shoutcast just doesn't play. Is there a solution for this?
Another bug - i can't launch a stream from Mozilla Firefox at all. Anyone else see this problem?
Other than those two - this is by far the easiest mod I've ever installed, and definitely one of the coolest....
Thanks!

.ram is Real Audio Player. If you don't have that installed, they won't work. Compatible streams for Windows Media Player end in .asx
It would be beneficial to use WMP streams as it's on 90 to 95 percent of the computers most used on the net.

The vBRadio title is at the beginning of the RADIO template. The URL of your forum page title being there is part of your vBulletin forum options. I'm not sure how you would get rid of that without re-writing phrases pertaining to your header.

Ok, I'm having fun with .ra .ram type channels. I've tried and failed to get them working (I have the paid version of Real Audio on my computer).
Any chance of a definitive answer as to whether they will work or not and if they will can someone explain in indiot format how to get them to work. Simply adding them doesn't seem to be doing the trick for me.
Reason I ask is that I want to add BBC Radio 1 and they only seem to support Real Audio (unless osmeone can tell me otherwise)

But, I'm having trouble with the CNN tv link ... did you get this working?
It does work for me yes, but for some reason not every single time, sometimes it seems to go into spaced out mode and just stops.
oldfan - try one of the ones off my list in firefox, I found that it still worked fine, but the display wouldn't show up, but you could still change channels and that was good enough for me.

I wanted to do this too... seems like is pretty easy...
open your vbradio template file and find two instances of the following code and made the following changes..:
PARAM name='uiMode' value='none'
just change it to
PARAM name='uiMode' value='mini'
that's it.. ;)

Tremendous ZT. Your work and abilities never cease to amaze me. I have one question though; I just can't figure out how to hard code this, within your coding structure. My navigation bar goes through different parts of my site, ie, Photopost, and if you are NOT in the main vb forum, the link will not call to the WMP pop up box. I've tried different hard code changes in the navbar text, but cannot seem to make it work. Any ideas?
Thanks

I think you sent me a message about this also. I have it working on all sections of my site- The VBAdvanced, Photopost, Reviewpost.
I visted your site, you have kind of a "different" directory structure, but...
Try inserting this code into to your NAVBAR template where you currently have the existing vbRadio link. This works perfectly on my forum (with my folder and filepaths of course!) If I have the incorrect path to your vb and vBRadio.php files, just correct them. As I said, this code works in all segments of my website.
It does appear as if you are using frames (I hate frames!) and that might be causing some issues for you.

Thanks! That worked. (I tried that before, and it "didn't work", because I changed it on the old default style, didn't copy it to the other styles, and tested it on my new default style) Confused? So was I.
Thanks very much. Got to be careful when you've got a lot of styles, and changing templates. They don't automatically upgrade from parent to child, as I'm discovering.

Has anyone played around with porting the current artist/ track in the player? I cannot seem to get this to work. I have it set up off my radio stream to display the current info on my main page but it doesn't seem to want to 'take' in vBRadio.
<fieldset class="fieldset">
<legend>Current Artist - Track</legend>
<center>
<? include("http://www.milwaukeenights.com/radio/sc_status.php"); ?>
<? include("http://www.milwaukeenights.com/radio/sc_song.php"); ?>
</center>
</fieldset>
Again, virtually the exact same include works on my main page. Is it because I am using my forums in a subdomain, just poor scripting or is this something not able to be accomplished in vBulletin and vBRadio?
If need be, I can provide all the code for sc_status and sc_song.
If you want to see it in action:

not so working - http://forums.milwaukeenights.com (click on Nights Radio)

Make sure the RADIO template exists in all of your stylesets. Sounds like the style you are using is missing the template. (blank white pages almost always means missing templates)

Since I have no programming skills, I dunno if this is applicable to trying to solve the firefox problem or not. But, for anyone who DOES know what they are doing, I found the following in a general discussion about issues with windows media & firefox in the mozilla forums.
"my first problem was that my host didn't have a mime type built in for .wma
So I went to Cpanel, which my host provides/uses i dunno, and I went to mime types and added a user defined mime type for wma's which, btw, is
audio/x-ms-wma
But that wasn't enough. SO then i tried this:
Code:
<object> data="/audio/rappineric.wma" codetype="audio/x-ms-wma" </object>
It still claims "play is not a function" and tells me I have an error if I look in the web developer toolbar, but it works!"
...........................
Followed by this:
"It works. This method of embedding audio only requires the Windows Media for Netscape plugin that comes with WMP.
................
As I said... this is NOT SPECIFIC TO THIS HACK! ... only perhaps a clue to anyone trying to "fix" their problems with this hack and firefox. Hope it helps someone who knows what they're doing! Just trying to be helpful here as I need it to function with firefox as well.

2. If Not Then I Know How To Revert The Procedure.. Only 1 Thing.

Congratulations! Is there any way that you could shed some light on this for those of us who are less able? Would be much appreciated.It was really just a matter of installing the ActiveX plugin by following the steps listed here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=167260#FF_1
The problem I had the first time was addressed at Step 0. (must have missed it the first time)IMPORTANT. If you use the Adblock Extension (http://adblock.mozdev.org/), you must make sure that the setting for OBJ-TABS is disabled. Otherwise, your system will run almost any ActiveX control. See Note 5 (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=167260#Notes).Are you having problems installing the plugin?

Yes, the user has to perform these steps to update their Firefox installation.
To add the link, look in the RADIO template, near the botom find </fieldset>, and just below it add

are you trying it in Firefox or something else? Also, what version of Windows Media are you using, cuz this only works right on 9 or above, but preferrably 10.

Hello again,
The code that Svt gave its wrong(he typed 2 times the http, maybe because he was in hurry:) )
The right code is:
<br />
<if condition="is_browser('firefox')">
<b>Tip 1 :</b> Firefox users: If this player doesn't work,<a href="http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=167260" target="_blank"> Click Here</a> for a possible solution.<br>
</if>

1) How u make Radio, not be able to played from visitors
2) Something except that hack, where did u found this nice hack that bugs the users who hasnt activated yet?
3) In the radio popup, u have put twice the link for possible problems(if u open u will understand)
4) If i put that, i have to change my radio stations again?
5) How u change the color:(
Thats all:)
Thanks in advance:)

1) not all that sure, but it'd involve a conditional in the vBRadio.php file excluding the usergroup for unregister/not logged in and then print_no_permission (not sure if that's a template or phase thing)
2) the hack is the Dynamic Forum Announcements hack tweaked to work in my header so it shows on all pages (including CMPS)
3) Fixed. ctrl+f5 if it still shows
4) No you don't as they are stored in your database
5) The color of the vBRadio page? This page uses the style you have set for the rest of the site.

(look at page source - and only select Windows not Real Player

Also, play a radio station in Windows Media Player 9/10, then select File/Properties and get the URL from the properties dialog box to plug into the vBRadio.
Cheers.

Here's a few screenshots of the experiments:
very cool!

Going to www.mysite.com/forum/vBRadio.php is blank as well. Tried in Firefox and IE, same result. vBulletin 3.0.3. Thanks!

Hello,
no one answered my question about implementing Real Player Streams but this hack says "supported". I do not like it if people do not care about their hacks. I care about my hacks which i released. Hopefully the author is just AFK for a short period of time.
Regardless of this i sat down and implemented it on my own. I have now Windows Media Player and Real Player Stream on my VBRadio. :devious:
The Sunshine live Stream is the Real Player Stream marked with the (R). All other streams marked with (W) are Windows Media Player streams.
If you want to have a look on your own http://www.LoveTalks.de/forum/
Hint: This is a german site !!! :nervous:
If people are interested in this recoding then please post it here. I had to modify all files and also do database changes. If the author is interested i would be more then happy to share my changes.
Cheers,

In the javascript, change vBRadio.php to$vboptions[bburl]/vBRadio.php
I believe your problem with it playing may be with some of the channels. I tried a few and they played fine, some didn't.

There are several sources listed throughout this thread. It would be convenient, though, if they could all be listed at the top with the hack description.

Make sure you have your RADIO template in that style setup. Sometimes upgrading can make your RADIO template disappear too (happened to me after I upgraded a couple of times...)

Firefox workaround!
I haven't been through every post, there's a lot of pointless posts, but I found that using Media Player 10 and Firefox 1 (latest of each)
you will most likely see connecting... right away even before selecting a station, hit the play this station button to start a stream (within 6 or so secs) (though I have altered the RADIO template to include the controls, which firefox plugin doesn't ignore.
once you start streaming the first channel in the list, you can then select any channel at will with good ol' Firefox.
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but this hack thread is getting cluttered quick
Great Hack :)

Great work Zero Tolerance! I had a new radio module on my site, but was having problems with it. Found this one and love it!
Got it installed fairly easy(*clicked install on May 30th, forgot when I first made this post), still new to this stuff, but having fun learning:banana:
I played around with it, to see if it could stream videos also, and it does, at least .asx files. I am streaming Electronic Dance Music channels from www.di.fm (http://www.di.fm/) and there are more streams music and video on www.wantmymusic.com (http://www.wantmymusic.com/)
