Hello,

no one answered my question about implementing Real Player Streams but this hack says "supported". I do not like it if people do not care about their hacks. I care about my hacks which i released. Hopefully the author is just AFK for a short period of time.

Regardless of this i sat down and implemented it on my own. I have now Windows Media Player and Real Player Stream on my VBRadio. :devious:

The Sunshine live Stream is the Real Player Stream marked with the (R). All other streams marked with (W) are Windows Media Player streams.

If you want to have a look on your own http://www.LoveTalks.de/forum/

Hint: This is a german site !!! :nervous:

If people are interested in this recoding then please post it here. I had to modify all files and also do database changes. If the author is interested i would be more then happy to share my changes.

Cheers,
This is very interesting, and I would love to see what you have to offer, and I am sure that Zero Tolerance would, also.

Hello,

here we go now. This is my first try to release an add-on for an existing hack. Please read the instructions carefully and if something is unclear or wrong please post into this thread. I will update the file and the instructions accordingly.

Have fun and enjoy this add-on.

Very nice, thank you.

Trying to find a way for the mediaplayer 'window' to display artist/title, will post if any luck. This might be determined by individual settings, not sure... I leave "visualizations" disabled to ease up on resource use while gaming.

Edit: Brainfart, clicking 'controls on' provides this info :nervous:

Has anyone got this working on a firefox browser? Doesn't work for me.

you have to hit the play button within 4 seconds or it will lock the browser, due to a buggy plugin, (though more likely an M$ fux0ring of Media player to make it look that way)
if you hit play straight away, you can then pick what you want, start, stop etc. for some reason firefox fires up trying to connect to a null stream

Hi All,

I would like to integrate vBradio into ucash/ushop using "purchase usergroup permissions" which assigns users a secondary usergroup. Is there any way to make access to vBradio usergroup specific? Thanks in advance!

Just installed this. But it is not working.

I followed the instructions carefully. I double checked. Everything seems to be working fine as in the file changes and template mods. I have even added custom categories and stations.

But when I click on the navbar link and the radio pops up, I click on a station and select play and ............ Nothing Happens ???

Any help or suggestions? (I read through this thread here, and couldn't find anybody else with this problem... So more than likely it is something simple)

1) Do you have javascript enabled?
2) Check your firewall isn't blocking the radio stream
3) Check the stream works for you by manually visiting the link in your browser.

Also some streams are not functional, i can't garentee all extensions will work. There is a modification a page or 2 back to allow real player streams, however it's 3rd party and i havn't tested it.

1. Not sure how to tell if I have javascript enabled. (I use a webhost on a shared server)

2. I don't think my firewall is blocking the radio stream. (When I visit the URL manually, it opens up Windows Media Player on my PC and plays fine)

3. I can visit the URL manually with no problems.

It's just that when I click on anything on vBRadio pop-up NOTHING happens...

I know I have had a similar problem with other hacks in the past because I have a renamed admincp folder. I understand that this hack uses an automatic installation script, but I always think this is worth mentioning...

So the problem is when you press "Play" nothing happens, hmm.

I just tested it on your site, and the stations play fine, all of them. My guess is you just need to wait a few minutes, if you press the controls on link, you will see what it's doing, and if your on a sluggish modem, you may have to be patient for it to connect.

And javascript is enabled in your browser, not the server :)

OK. Well, I am glad to hear that it is working at least for my member and/or visitors. I am on broadband. (Is that what you mean by a sluggish modem? My internet connection? I thought broadband was fast). When I click on the links I can not see anything happening at all. I waited like five minutes. ???

Okay, select a radio station, then hit play. After doing that hit the button "On" in the controls option, which is below select a station.

Tell me if anything appears for you. At all, there should be media player controls that pop up at the bottom, and telling you what the media player is currently doing (connecting to the stream, buffering, etc..)

Alright then you probably have javascript disabled .. possibly, or something else. But seen as how the pop up works, and vBChat does for you, javascript is enabled, my only other assumption is the multimedia options in IE.

If your using IE, go to Tools -> Internet Options, go to the Tab Advanced, scroll down and find "Multimedia", ensure all box's are ticked. :)

OK.

Went into: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia...

All options were "ticked" except for one "Show Image Download Placeholders". I ticked this option and saved.

Then I repeated the steps listed in my last post, but still no difference. (I don't want to hijack this thread. But this is really confusing.)

Some of the users cannot hear anything. They've waited 30 seconds after clicking "Play this station"; they have IE, Windows Media Player and Real Player.....what could be the problem?

MegaDittos!

SUMMARY:

1. Installed hack flawlessly as per instructions.
2. Click on "Radio" link in Navbar.
3. vBRadio pop-up appears.
4. Select station.
5. Click "Play This Station".
6. Nothing happens.........

WHAT I KNOW:

1. The hack is installed properly. (It is working perfectly for some users)
2. It is not a firewall issue. (I tried with my firewall disabled, and it still doesn't work)
3. I have JavaScript enabled. (So that's not the problem)
4. I have the latest Windows Media Player 10 (So that's not the problem)
5. I have all choices ticked in TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > ADVANCED > MULTIMEDIA OPTIONS... (So that's not the problem)
6. When I visit the station URLs manually, I click on them and instantly Media Player opens and starts playing the station. (So that's not the problem)

MY PC:

1. Broadband, hi-speed cable connection
2. Windows XP, with updates and service pack installed
3. Pentium 4
4. Internet Explorer 6
5. Fast as hell, with hyperthreading. Not sure on the specs.
6. Virus Protection: Norton Internet Security Professional 2004 (with antivirus, firewall, etc)
7. SpyWare Protection: SpyWare Sweeper

The other user on my site who has complained of the exact same situation that I have, also uses IE 6.

Sorry ZT. It worked just that one time last night. But that was because I visited the URL. It actually, is still not working. I just wanted to summarize this so maybe it can be productive to others if they are having a problem too.

What other options are we left with as to why this isnt' working?

It would appear that this hack simply works for some people and not for others... (nice hack, but consider yourself warned if you are thinking of installing)

@ jzewatsky

Edit vBRadio.php and find:
// ---------------------------------------------------
// End Require Globalized Settings
// ---------------------------------------------------

Under it add:
if (!is_member_of($bbuserinfo, X) and !is_member_of($bbuserinfo, Y) and !is_member_of($bbuserinfo, Z))

Where X, Y and Z are the ID numbers of the groups you want to give permission to use vBRadio.

Use this around the link:
<if condition="$bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == X OR $bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == Y OR $bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == Z"> Your Link here </if>
Where X, Y and Z are the ID numbers of the secondary usergroups you want to give permission to see vBRadio link in your navbar, that should work you will have to try to find out, but only use primary usergroups myself, but like I said should work.

Ok, try this then:<if condition="$bbuserinfo['membergroupids'] == X OR $bbuserinfo['membergroupids'] == Y OR $bbuserinfo['membergroupids'] == Z"> Your Link here </if>
Where X, Y and Z are the ID numbers of the secondary usergroups you want to give permission to see vBRadio link in your navbar, that should work as membergroupids is the secondary usergroups ID.

Okay...This is a unique problem, I think...

I had vbradio installed previously, but redid my forums, so I uninstalled it manually (reverted templates, dropped the table & deleted all the files that it had created).

I went to reinstall it tonight & it gets through step one, then tells me that there is a database error:

There seems to have been a slight problem with the The NFL Forums - Brought to you by the "Banned" of Brothers database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Not sure what is going on here...Well, obviously there is some sort of database error...but has anybody else gotten that when they were attempting to install it? I uploaded everything to the proper directories...

mysql error: Duplicate entry 'radio_cat_added-0-9000' for key 2

Is what is going on...Is there something I could do to manually put this through, or does that mean that I need to create the table or something first?

Is what is going on...Is there something I could do to manually put this through, or does that mean that I need to create the table or something first?

You didn't delete everything during your deinstall. It says duplicate entry. You deleted all the tables but it also creates phrases. You should delete every phrase and then try to install it again. Then it should work.

OK.....?
I have VB3.07
I didnt look at the version when i downloaded it and installed it on VB3.07 (test forum )
I deleted the 2 files it asked on the admincp set up screen.
it didnt work, so i added back the Vbradio.php to the root directory
works fine

I now know of the VB2.3 radio, is there a reason i should up-grade?
i like the this version of the player

any thoughts?
thanks

I just added google ad sense to this. Instead of taking time to edit the template right now I just added a small 234 by 64 under the player controls...

Add your ad sense under this

How hard would it be to re-mod this thing or release it so you can move catagories and have sub catagories.

The enduser opens a window from your server. In this window the local player of the enduser will be loaded and this player open the URL you give him via your ACP. There is no traffic for your server from the radio streams.

And regarding your installation: Open PMA and remove the duplicate entry for the category. Looks like you did the installation twice.

There are a lot of good streams that use "WinAmp" or "Real-Media" .... any way we can include those tools into out vBRadio ? Because i can only play those .asx files that use Windows Media Player.

I prefer a fixx, that allows Users to choose the tool ... or something that play them all or that choose the right tool for the right stream .. ya know ? :)

Can you make a vBRadio 1.1 that works for Firefox, too since Firefox is a well spreaded Browser now a days mate.
Or just an AddOn or simple fixx for Firefox.

You need to download the plugin FoxyTunes.

well there are many international televison channels which send live boradcast, and when one visits lets say a canadien televison channels website it will show that thay have "LIVE BORADCAST" well as we say in UK "bob's your uncle" so if you click on the icon it starts showing you the tele by automatcly opening you windows Media player or Winamp player or RealPlayer ect.

So with this hack which is provided one can also insert the server address's of the streams and as well as a radio you can have a televesion boradcast as well ...isnt it smart.

You've probably tried this, but either uninstall it and try again, or if that hasn't worked, it may have something to do with unlocking the MySQL tables.

Sometimes when I've gone to add features, I've had to get my ISP to set the server permissions, to allow VBulletin to create tables.

Hope that helps.

I have the exact same problem. Everything is uploaded, but it says it can't find the file. So weird. I have installed other hacks no problem. But this just says it can't find it?

Anyone have a solution for this?

yea if you go to the file on your server and try and view it, you see nothing. but if you try and edit it, you get the full file.

i havent figured it out yet. the file is there before the download and obviously after, it just wont show up to view it.

i wish someone would help.

This is the version for 3.0.x not 3.5.x so that file does not exist.

NICE LOOKING! Now a question before I try it out...

Can it be turned on/off ???

A friend does an internet radio broadcast on fridays in Sept, Oct, Nov (football) so we would love to have this installed but would need to enable it around game time, and disable it an hour or so after.

THANKS in Advance!

HI, thought this would be useful on my forum, but not sure if it works with 3.5.x - although I do realise it is listed in the 3.5.x available mods.

I get the following error when trying to add a template:

Error. vbradio.xml located in directory '' was not found. Please make sure it is uploaded then press the submit button below

My forum files are in the top directory of my site, within wwwroot, with admincp being a folder within that. I know the file exists in there, but it seems to be that is doesn't know which directory to look in due to the " in the error message.

I've searched and seen that others have had the issue, but can't find a resolution - anyone any ideas?

Guidance and help appreciated

Thanks

Seems that I get the same error message as a lot of others trying to use this hack.

If this radio hack works with 3.5.4 why are so many of us getting the same error message??

Is this definitely a 3.5.4 compatible hack??? If so, how do we solve the issue of this error message??

I've checked my CHMOD 777, checked the file, checked that I can edit the file and it is in the correct folder and it is fully editable...can someone throw some light on this, because I've installed it but I get zero functionality.

Worked it out!! Or at least worked it out for myself anyway...

I have been downloading the wrong zip file. The one that should be used for 3.5.x forum is this one HERE (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=83132).

Upload all the correct files (including the additional file to configure it in the admin control panel.) and it all worked a treat.

Installed...

I hope that someone can help me here....

One of my members can't listen to any radio station on vBRadio... vBRadio works 100%....

He is using Windows XP, WMP 10, Internet Explorer, Broadband 2Mbps ADSL.

When he clicks on the radio station and presses PLAY THIS STATION he gets nothing at all.... no effects froom WMP, no sound, nada, zip....

I had him test his WMP by giving a link to a streaming radio site, it works perfectly. I have other users using the vBRadio without a single problem.... so I am really baffled... does anyone have any pointers that I could refer back to him???

Thanks in anticipation.....
