I've been asked by the host of my site (collegefanatics.com) to look for a message board system that offer better performance. I currently am using phpBB and have had a great deal of success on tweaking the system for my and my users benefit. The main hack that I will, without a doubt, require is the ability to offer individual templates/styles for individual boards. I currently have around 125 boards and the idea is to have around 120 different looks. IS this possible, and if so can you point me to the right documentation? I have around 800 members who are making about 560 posts/day. This is generally not a problem, but on Saturdays we probably have 1500 or so posts.

I'm also going to need to some help converting the db from phpBB to vB. I know that there is a conversion utility, but if you could just point it out to me I'd be much obliged.

Thanks!

for the conversion, see here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92

also, there is no real statistics to compare between phpBB and vB, but i can tell, as a former developper of phpBB that there is a lot of differences in performance between the two. vB is 30% faster and more resource safe than phpBB/IPB...

also... you can apply styles per forum on vB... but you need to follow the licensing protocol to have multiple forums ... http://www.vbulletin.com/faqsales.php

I'm a bit confused by this. It is one site with one db that has about 10 separate categories and 125 or so "forums" underneath. But there forums are not separate instances of vB. Can you help clarify in conversational english for me? I obviosly have not had my coffee yet today.

hum... you were talking about your 125 boards, with different styles... if you just talk about a single board with multiple forums, that's ok... ;)

Thanks for all your help. I just need to see some more documentation and then I'm ready to sign up.
